RESULT

Dilution factor Volume of sample (ml) Phosphorus (mg/l)

20 100 ml 4.97
20 ml = 5 ml

25 100 ml 3.97
25 ml = 4ml

30 100 ml 3.27
30 ml = 3.33 ml

35 100 ml 3.19
35 ml = 2.86 ml

40 100 ml 2.66
40 ml = 2.5 ml

Calculations:
Using formula of

M1V1 = M2V2
(10 mg/l)(1ml) = M2 (25 ml)
M2 = 0.4 mg/l for 25 dilution factor

No of standard Reading from standard (mg/l)

1 0.64
2 0.67
3 0.53
Average 0.6133

Using the formula of,

t h eoreticalactual
% Error = t h eoretical x 100

% Error = 34.78 %
DISCUSSION

Phosphates PO43- are formed from this element. Phosphates exist in three forms:
orthophosphate, metaphosphate (or polyphosphate) and organically bound phosphate each compound
contains phosphorous in a different chemical arrangement. These forms of phosphate occur in living
and decaying plant and animal remains, as free ions or weakly chemically bounded in aqueous
systems, chemically bonded to sediments and soils, or as mineralized compounds in soil, rocks, and
sediments.based on the result theres an error at 34.78% which is the error of the phosphate reading
that causes from the interference of other element such as aluminium, arsenate, chromium and etc.
