Lectures:
Tuesday and Thursday: 14:35-15:50, Packard Lab 360, January 17 -
April 27, 2006.
Prerequisite:
CSE404 (Computer Networks) or Instructor's permission.
Course Objective:
After you complete this course, you should be able to: list various
applications of wireless sensor networks, describe the concepts,
protocols, and differences underlying the design, implementation,
and use of wireless sensor networks, and propose, implement, and
evaluate new ideas for solving wireless sensor network design
issues.
Course Description:
This course discusses protocols and architectures for wireless sensor
network design. It covers wireless sensor node and network
architectures, and communication protocols in data-link, network,
and transport layers. The course will discusses focused topics for
wireless sensor networks such as time synchronization, localization,
and topology management.

Hands-on group projects on using ns-2 (or other popular network

simulators) to simulate wireless sensor networks or nesC to program
Crossbow wireless sensors will be included.
