Discover the secret that spells success for
two million school students
Presenting MaRRS International Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee the worlds most successful spelling competition

Since 11-year-old Frank Neuhauser won the first National Spelling Bee in
Washington, D.C. in 1925, Spelling Bees have been enthralling students, parents
and teachers around the world. The word bee, in this context, means a meeting
of people for a common cause. The event is so popular in the USA, that the
national finalists are invited to meet the President at the White House every year!

MaRRS International Spelling Bee Asias largest self-motivated

learning programme for school children

Across Asia, over 3,00,000 students hone their vocabulary skills at the
MaRRS International Spelling Bee. Now in its eleventh year, this word marathon
attracts students from over 1,500 schools across Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, UAE
and South Africa, apart from 21 Indian states. Soon, we at MaRRS will reach across
Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bahrain and UK.

Developed and administered by educationists and language experts, the

competition builds up every vital skill for language acquisition, such as vocabulary,
spelling, grammar, word and sentence usage and pronunciation. Focusing
on these elements at every level helps students undergo a comprehensive
evaluation based on them, and they show a dramatic improvement in language
skills. The competitive spirit nurtures performance without compulsions. Whats
more, MaRRS is perhaps unique in the field in providing integral training to each
participant.

The competition structure designed for a perfect build-up of skills

MaRRS International Spelling Bee is accessible to all school students from

classes 1 to 12, who compete in six different categories. The competition begins
at the School Level and progresses towards the International Level through
Emirates Level, UAE National and GCC Championship.
MaRRS committed to empowering the child

Competition rounds

SCHOOL level Rounds

DICTATION: 15 words are dictated along with their meanings. Each word will be
dictated thrice. The students have to write the words within the time allotted
for each word.

JUMBLED LETTERS: Ten scrambled words will be given to the students along
with their meanings. The students have to rearrange the letters, identify the
correct word using the clues, and write them in the space provided.

ORAL Rounds

SPELL IT: This is more or less like our Dictation round. For all categories, words
will be dictated to the students and they have to identify the word by hearing
them. Students can ask for the meaning, if needed. Two marks will be awarded
to every right answer. The student can go on until he / she gives a wrong
answer. This is the best round for students to score more marks.
