Subject: Update - Manage to Budget Process

Some of you may have seen or heard media coverage today which indicated that all
regional health authorities have been asked by the provincial government to cut 15 per
cent of management positions as part of the manage-to-budget process.

As you know, were currently in the process of identifying $83 million in savings for the
coming fiscal year. Late last week, the province added the requirement for us to identify
15 per cent of management positions to remove from the system.

We are examining potential options to mitigate the impact of this action on our staff and
to ensure we have the administrative structure that supports quality health care services
delivery for the future. To date, no specific positions have been identified as part of this
mandated reduction.

I will continue to keep you posted on developments as they become available.
