Students will be able to define teamwork
Students will be able to work together as a team

Bridge-In (Focus student attention)


Counselor will introduce the topic of teamwork
Counselor will make a web on the board of student ideas

Procedure
1. Ask, Why is teamwork important?
2. Explain that teamwork can help us achieve our goals
3. Give each group of students one sheet of paper per group member
4. Explain to the students that their goal is to get this ping-pong ball from one side of the
carpet to the other, using only the papers and not their hands, and the ball cannot fall
to the floor
5. Explain to the students that they get two do-overs if the ball touches the floor

Guided Practice (Application of knowledge: classroom activities for students, problem to


solve, etc.)
Students will work together as a team to get the ping-pong to the opposite side of the
carpet

Reflection (Recap key concepts, helps students consolidate knowledge)


Ask those groups that were successful what worked for them in terms of teamwork
Ask those groups that were unsuccessful what didnt work for them in terms of
teamwork

Check for Understanding (What questions will you ask and when to determine students
understand?)
Ask, Why is teamwork important?

Assessment (Product, Reflect on Learning Outcomes)

Counselor will recap the topic of teamwork

Procedure
1. Explain that we will be creating a human knot, and their task is to untangle themselves
(class may be divided into two groups if necessary - make sure groups are even)
2. Ask each student to stand in their circle and raise their right hand to grab the right
hand of someone else in their circle, but they cannot grab the hand of the person next
to them
3. Have the students raise their left hand and grab the left hand of someone across the
circle (someone different than whose right hand they are holding) - cannot be the
person next to them
4. Explain to the students that they need to untangle themselves without letting go of
each others hands unless someone is in serious pain
