CWAF3.7+requiresDirectX8.0orhighertobeinstalledinordertouseDirectSound.24bit
audiowillbestreamedas16bitdatatosupportthewidestrangeofcards.Ifyouarepresented
withanerrormessageaboutamissingordinalindsound.dll(oramissingDLL),itisfairly
certainthatyouneedtoupgradeyourDirectXtoversion8.0.CWAF3.6canstillbeusedwithout
DirectX8.0,butitwilluseMCIforplayback(no24bitwaves).

WehavemadeeveryattempttomakeCWAFsafertouseforallusers.TheConfiguredialogis
openedateverylaunchnow,withallofthedrives(exceptfloppy)selected.AdditionalWarnings
arenowissuedwhencertainactionsmighthaveadangerousresult.Filesarenolongerdeleted
(innormaluse),butthereisanactiontomovefilestoanotherfolderoftheuserschoosingorthe
WindowsRecyclebin.Seethehelpfileforinformationabouthowtodeletefiles.

excludedfoldersandspeedupthesearchquiteabit.

DirectSoundforplaybackpreview.WhenDirectSoundisnotoperational,MCIwillbeusedto
playbacktheaudio.IfyouareusingDirectSound,youcanalsochoosewhichhardwaresound
drivershouldbeusedtoplaybackaudio.ThePrimarySoundDriveroptioncorrespondstothe
onechosenasthesystemPreferredDeviceintheControlPanel|SoundsandMultimediaapplet.

TheCWAFmainapplicationwindowisnowresizable.AFilePathcolumnhasbeenaddedto
theWavelisttohelpprovidesupportforSONAR2.0.AstheFindsearchprogresses,allaudio
fromanyperprojectfolderisaddedtotheWavelist,andanyorphanedwavefilesinaper
projectfolderisofferedasacandidatefordeletion.

Notethatwhenaudioismissingbecauseitisbeingreferencedasexternalaudio,andithappens
thattheaudiohasbeenmoved,theLocateMissingcommandmayfindtheaudio,butbe
unabletomoveorcopyit.InthiscasetheLocateMissingdialogactionfieldswillbedisabled,
althoughthepathnameoftheaudiowillbefilledinandthestatusgivenasLocated.Youwill
needtouseSONARtofixupthesereferences:CWAFcannotwriteintoSONARfiles.

WhenaSONARtemplate(.CWT)containsaudioreferences,SONARignoresanyperproject
audiofolderinformationstoredinatemplate.Toaccountforthis,CWAFtreatsaudioreferences
inaSONARtemplateasexistinginboththeglobalandlocalprojectfolders.
