With the expansion of video, special effects, 3D animations, and other many
multimedia technologies, hammering out a home theatre system could easily cost up to 5
digits. However, with the upcoming multi-medium HTPC concept, owning a personal home
theatre system is no longer an unachievable dream. All you need to do is to purchase all the
right components, follow this guide, and you are well on your way to building your own Media
LAB PC!
Now, please follow our guidelines step by step towards building your own Media LAB
PC! First, we must obtain the following components:

1. HTPC Multimedia Chassis (Includes Media LAB VFD Kit): Thermaltake VB8001BNS
If your chassis does not come with the Media LAB VFD Kit, it is also available separately as
model number A2331 (black) and A2328 (silver).

Step 2:
Hold the CPU and match up the two indentations on the CPU and the socket. Gently place
the CPU into the socket.

Step 3:
After correctly installing the CPU, the LGA775 socket needs to be secured by the security
plate, the pull down the lever until the level locks back into place. Finally, spread an
extremely thin layer of thermal paste on top of the CPU surface.

Step 4:
Please take the Thermaltake CL-P0092 Silent 775 out of the box as well as all installation
equipment.
Step 5:
Please align the backplate with the 4 screw holes on the back of the motherboard, with the
black side of the backplate on the motherboard.
Step 6:
Use a screw driver to screw the 4 screws through the motherboard and into the backplate.
Connect the 3-pin connector from the fan to the CPU fan header on the motherboard.
Step 7:
Take the RAM and check the motherboard manual regarding compatibility and installation
locations. Please snap the RAM into the correct RAM slot accordingly.

Please remove the two bridge supports as show in the pictures below.
Please place the motherboard gently into the chassis, align the screw holes, and secure the
motherboard into the chassis with screws.
Double check and make sure all the screws are secured on the motherboard.
Installing the Power Supply
Please take the Thermaltake Purepower 460W W0068 power supply out of the package.
Gently place the power supply inside the chassis and secure the 4 screws behind the chassis
into the power supply.
Please connect the 24-pin connector from the power supply to the Media LABs power
extention.
Please connect the 24-pin connector from the Media LAB onto the motherboard.
Please unscrew the two other screws as shown to remove the HDD cage.
Please remove the screws as shown to remove the drive bay covers of the 5.25 bays.
Remove the 5.25 drive bay cover.
Please install the DVD-ROM into the 5.25 drive bay as shown.
After installation, please secure the 5.25 drive bays by screwing on the screws.
Please re-install the chassis supporting bridge onto the chassis after the HDD is secured.
Since the HDD utilizes the SATA interface, please connect the SATA cable on the SATA
header on the motherboard.
