Summerhall is perfectly located in the former University Dick Vet
building by the Meadows. With an imaginative and infinitely
flexible choice of spaces and bespoke event management we
pride ourselves in our ability to make Summerhall an
unforgettable venue for your event.
We proudly house our own bar and restaurant, The Royal Dick,
once a Small Animal Hospital as well as our fantastic Summerhall
Cafe and Shop. In-house catering is available for small meetings
and events and we welcome external caterers to work with us
to meet your needs.

The Main Hall is a splendid example of early 20th century public
architecture with its elegant features, wooden floor and
ceremonial atmosphere. Flexible staging and seating makes this
a very adaptable space for up to 250 people. As perfect for
dancing, concerts and dinners as it is for meetings, conferences
and gigs.

DISSECTION ROOM
The name might be a little gruesome but Summerhall's Dissection
Room makes for a truly spectacular, completely original venue.

This space is full of character and flexibility is key. Large windows

make up one side of the room and on the other, a line of wooden
display cabinets sit below a charming balcony to add another
level of interest to the room. The room features a number of
theatre blacks and staging options which adapt to your event
requirements and a private bar is conveniently located within the
venue space. The Dissection Room is ideal for large events due
to nearby breakout rooms.

Perfect for concerts, networking events and launches, dinners,

weddings and conferences. The Dissection Room is one of
Edinburgh's most distinctive and unusual settings.

RED LECTURE THEATRE

A Seventies style lecture theatre complete with original
features such as red lacquer study tables and flip down seats,
the Red Lecture Theatre is ideal for more intimate talks,
presentations, meetings and panel discussions. Equipped with
a small projection/ sound booth, screen and projector with
7.1 sound and the ability for total black out this space also
makes an ideal cinema.

With an on-site brewery and Gin distillery, The Royal Dick
is a bar like no other. Authentic Dick Vet School fittings and
contemporary design makes this a unique setting to gather in.

ANATOMY LECTURE THEATRE

One of our most precious jewels, the Anatomy Lecture Theatre
is an intimate room with original features such as raised wooden
horseshoe seating and wooden floors that are over one hundred
years old. The rooms adds a special atmosphere to your events
and is a supremely functional space with perfect acoustics for
speech and unamplified music. Ideal for conferences, meetings,
lectures, recitals and concerts.

DEMONSTRATION ROOM
Set in the oldest part of Summerhall our Demonstration Room is
a stark and raw space that makes a powerful impact on
audiences. Popular for location filming, photo shoots and unique
performances and readings. A powerful and unforgettable space.
Capacity: 58.

THE CAIRNS LECTURE THEATRE

A modern end-on space with red padded seats. The room
features windows down one side for natural light, or curtains can
be drawn for theatre blackout. This room is ideal for theatre, film
or meetings. Capacity: 100.

OLD LAB
As the name suggests this is a former laboratory now turned into
a large open plan black box space. Ideal for workshops, classes
and rehearsals.

LIBRARY GALLERY
After our Cafe closes its doors in the evening, this becomes a
space perfect for social gatherings and intimate music events.
Handcrafted wooden furniture provides relaxed seating and
curated artwork fills the walls.
Capacity: Flexible depending on event or 150 standing.

TECHCUBE ZERO
Based within our technology incubator Techcube, this flat floored
room is equipped with tables and chairs and offers a variety of
set up options including theatre style, classroom and boardroom.
Capacity: 100 seated.
