MUSIC EDUCATION
Grade Three

Grade 3 Music in the K 12 basic Education program consists of basic concepts of different musical
elements. It includes rhythm (sounds and silence, grouping of sounds, and ostinatos), melody (staff, pitch,
and melodic lines and patterns), form (similar and different lines), timbre (voice production and musical
instrument sounds), dynamics (basic dynamic symbols), tempo (basic tempo markings), and texture (round
and partner singing).
 Understanding the basic concepts of these musical elements will help the students to acquire the basic
and fundamental processes through performing, creating, listening and observing, and responding, towards the
development of appreciation of music, and the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills.
