Dat The Worlds First Cat Dog

Genetically Modified Animal

Why the Dat Was Created
The scientists that created the dat had a
theory that this cat dog hybrid could save
people who have been covered by
avalanches.

Combining the traits of a dog and a cat would

cause an animal that is capable of any search
and rescue.
Why the Government Should Use Genetically Modified Animals

Genetically modified animals will have traits of more than

one animal so they can have twice the power in one animal.
Scientist think that hybrids could do better than the actual
animal with no other mixed genes.

Genetically modified animals are animals that have

had some DNA removed, altered, or replaced with
other genes. The process of this would not naturally
occur outside of a science lab. This process changes
some of the traits of the animal.
The Dog

The dog has a great sense of smell and can be easily trained.
Dogs are already used for search and rescue. Choosing dogs to
mix with a cat would make the perfect genetically modified animal
because of the traits that the dog possesses. Such as the dog has
a great sense of smell that can smell people out that are covered
up by snow. Creating an animal that would be useful in avalanche
rescue.
The Cat
Cats are nimble creatures that are light and can skim across the surface
of the snow, also the cat does not have a collarbone.Since the cat does
not have a collar bone the head is usually the biggest part of its body,
this allows them to fit in most any narrow space, or any space that is
larger than their head. Cats usually weigh about 9 pounds, and are
about 18 inches long, snow is about 30 pounds per cubic foot. It takes a
cat about 2 cubic squares of snow, than the 9 pounds that the cat
weighs will be easily spread out through the surface of the snow. That
way the cats only have about 4.5 pounds on each square, when the
squares weight is 30, that allows the cats to easily glide across the
surface of the snow. The scientists choose the cats body to out the
dogs DNA in because dogs can not fit in every space a cat can, and
using the dogs body would make the dat less nimble.

Reasoning Behind Creating the Dat
More than 150 people die worldwide every year from
avalanches. The scientist believed that the Dat could
change these numbers. Since the dat has a very good
sense of smell, is nimble, and can run on snow with ease
and can fit in any place it makes for a very good
avalanche rescue animal.

When they created the Dat the took the body of the cat,
but replaced the DNA from the cat nose, with the DNA
with the dog's nose. They also replaced the cats DNA
from the brain, with the dogs DNA from the brain. Thus
creating an animal that can smell and think like a dog, but
can move and see like a cat.
What the Dat Does
Dogs are used in many ways to help people, they were
trained and adapted to certain situations. Training the data
would be like training a cop dog. They will listen to their
masters commands and with time to come will learn how to do
their job.The dats job will be to smell out people, that are
covered by snow. When avalanches are triggered, they cause
a large mound of snow to be slid down the face of a mountain.
Creating a huge wave of snow to come. If you are hit by this
wall of snow then you will be covered by a huge mound of
snow. People that then try to find you when you have snow on
you is very difficult for humans to reach you in time. Once you
are covered by the snow, you start to breath in CO2 that you
breath out causing you to slowly die. But the dat will be able to
reach you in such time that you dont die.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the dat would make a great animal for any avalanche
search and rescue. Creating a cat, dog animal would be a great tool
for the government to use. An avalanche rescue animal that can
smell out and locate a person who is under many layers of snow
would benefit efficiency and safety.
