I interviewed Ms. Gei-Ann Baratas, my 3rd Year adviser in High School

1st Question: What is your personal Philosophy of education?

Answer: Education is integrating Christ in Lessons towards Wholeness of humanity.

2nd Question: How did you come up such philosophy?

Answer: Brought up in Christian faith since summer 2005 and I realized that biblical faith makes a person
bright and virtuous so to teach society is to teach with biblical integration.

3rd Question: How does your philosophy affect you as a teacher?

Answer: When things are tough, maglagot ka, kabuhaton kag dili mau, kapuyon ka, basta panahon sa
realization nga you end up with God and you try harder each day to live and follow Christ, you
cant teach just for the content, you cant grade just for appraisal and fail for them to suffer their
actions, you can hate when youre mad at them so you always pray, pray for them to understand,
pray for them to behave, for them to be protected, for them to learn biblical faith more than
knowledge and most of all, you pray for them to forgive you if dont understand and that God
will repair damage if you have made one to them.

4thQuestion: Do you think you will stick with that philosophy as you grow?
Is there a possibility that it would change?
Answer: I will definitely stick coz Ive come a bit farther from the old me (strict, merciless, affront, for
short - inhumane teacher). Ive made a lot of mistakes in teaching so I had my worst yesterday
but today and onwards, Ill be at my best coz Ive differentiated them well since then. I have to
be at my best both: Theoretically and spiritually.

I teach not for men but I make the best of me coz I serve the Lord with my teaching not for mere
reputation and honor man can give but far more reward is stored in heaven even if I will never be
named MOST OUTSTANDING TEACHER.

1. With that educational philosophy:

* How will you treat your students?

I would be a patient and understanding to my student. I will balance my strictness and being funny-
enough to gain respect and attention. I will set classroom rules and I want to create a classroom environment
where my students would feel free to participate, ask questions, and raise their opinions.

* What will you teach?

Aside from teaching them the content of lessons in every discussion, i will also teach then biblical
values to become good individuals. God, as my authority, imparts wisdom and knowledge to me so that I,
in turn, can impart wisdom and knowledge to my students. Students should graduate and not just leave with
a diploma but also with a better grasp on the world and the way they can impact it for the glory of God.

* How will you teach?

As a teacher, I hoped to make learning fun and engaging by using different strategies that would fit to
our topic and would awaken the interest of my students. I would also want to relate to my students how their
leanings might fit into the real world. I also want to ignite in them a passion for learning and to help them
discover the gifts and skills God has given them that they can use in every area of their life. I wish to
appropriately get to know my students and impact their spiritual life. My hope is to see students come to know
the Lord and to for them to build a deeper relationship with Him.
2. From which philosophies that you have studied and researched did you draw inspiration as you formulated
your own Philosophy of Education?

The philosophy which I considered as a basis of my personal Philosophy of Education is the Christian
Philosophy which was inspired from the Bible.

Philosophy comes from the Greek words Philo which means love and Sophia which means wisdom.
Therefore, its meaning in general is LOVE FOR WISDOM.

Education on the other hand, Education has been defined as the process by which children and youth
develop knowledge, skills, and character, especially through formal instruction, training, and study.

For me, the best way to educate someone to become knowledgeable and full of wisdom is through
integrating biblical values in our leanings. It is very important for the implantation of ones vision, character
formation, healing self-esteem and awakening leadership skills. These things can be picked from the Bible
which is very useful in our daily lives to become prosperous and successful.

3. Does this education philosophy of yours make a difference in your life?

Absolutely yes. As a student, my personal philosophy which is inspired by the word of God always
reminds me that everything could be achieved only if I will abide in Christ. It teaches me how to be patient in
facing the heavy traffic as I go to school, to be responsible in my class works, to be hardworking, to have
respect towards my fellow students and professors, to love my course even though its not my first option, to be
humble whenever I got higher grades and to resist temptation of cheating, procrastination and loss of temper
which are my greatest enemy.

As a future teacher, I know that this Philosophy of mine would make me more
patient and understanding in dealing with my students. I know that this would help me to impart
the given knowledge & wisdom from God to my future students and to be a good example towards them.

Lastly, my personal educational philosophy taught me not just to accomplish a thing. It also
strengthen me to achieve success.
