ONE OMISSION IN THE STORY OF SINUHE

The article considers the reasons for the Story of Sinuhe to ignore completely the
god Osiris. On one side, the idea of Osiris as the god of eternal life for everyone,
and not only for a sacral king, was finally established and sanctioned under
Senwosret I, in Sinuhes absence from Egypt; the author of the Story might have
withheld from the narration of the migr Sihuhe the detail that must have been
unfamiliar to him. On the other side, Sinuhe might have been represented as a man
of the past epoch, independent of gods (also in his posthumous life) to a greater
extent than his younger contemporaries shaped by the time of Senwosret I.
