2nd Terminal Examination-2016

Class: IX; Sub: English 1st Paper

Part-A: Writing Test Paper (Marks-50)
Time : 3 hours Full Marks: 100
Read the passage. Then answer the questions below.
The general notion about street children is, as it were, they are born in street, brought up in street and die in street.
They are flourished with so called names like ragamuffin, foundlings, Tokais, waits and stray, rootless children
and so on. Begging, stealing, cheating and doing the manual jobs are the ways of their livelihood. Among them
more reasonable street boys work as garbage collectors , porters , helpers of tempos and buses , table boys in the
tea stalks and hotels and also do many other odd jobs in many places.
How cruel the world is to them! They are bereft of all fundamental rights, parents' affection and even fellow
feelings. The entire shelter under the open sky is their only living abode whether in cold, hot or rainy atmosphere.
Luckily, some of them live in the way side shanties, or in the makeshift houses of houses of the slum. Likewise
they have to bear the brunt of tiresome drudgery of day to day life.
The universe of the same Supreme Being is full of people with lots of asset, property, and support. But nobody
else is there to help them. As human beings they deserve equal rights to be worthy members of the world. People
in general and government take all out measures to ensure a better life for the rootless; otherwise they will become
trouble maker and cause immense harms to the society. All and sundry have to bear in mind that '' while the root
less laugh in satisfaction the whole world will laugh anew.
