MPD & MPDS

The Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) is an envelop

document and provided to each operator.

A MPD is established for each aircraft model family (A300,

A310, A300-600, A318/A319/A320/A321, A330,
A340,A380) to reflect the latest MRBR requirements.

The MPD provides the scheduled maintenance tasks for

systems and components, APU and power plant, zonal and
structure (Volume 1) and complementary data such as
zoning, access and structure illustrations (Volume 2).

The media is now CD-ROM (Excel/PDF/Txt-Files)

A320FAM Maintenance Program Evoluation

In Sept. 2002 the A320FAM ISC launched an evolution
exercise with the aim to achieve an optimised maintenance
program.
The experience of operators around the world with a fleet
or more than 1500 aircraft in service was used to support
the evolution.
In Feb.2003, the A320FAM Industry Steering Committee
decided to delete the letter check concept and to express
each task in the appropriate usage parameter(s).
Consequently, the terms A and C will not be used any
more from MRB Report Issue 9 and related MPD Rev.28
and onwards

FC target: 750 FC
Calendar target: 100 days

C interval of 15 months Calendar target: 20 months

FH target: 6000 FH
FC target: 4500 FC

The target interval frame for structure inspections was defined as

6 and 12 years (from 5 and 10 years).

A320FAM Maintenance Event Planning-Examples ( refer to MPD Appendix)
General
The purpose to provide operators with three examples of task concept in
order to assist them in the building of their own packaging based on:
- Consideration of all MPD tasks
- various types of utilization
- a blocked maintenance planning schedule.
Even if in the MPD the thresholds or intervals are no longer expressed in
letter checks, the terms A and C events are used, which are not related to
the former A and C intervals.
The A and C event defines respectively the lower and medium
maintenance event. Their interval and content depends on the utilization
hypothesis.

MPD & MPDS

A320FAM Maintenance Event Planning-Examples ( refer to MPD Appendix)

PLANNING HYPOTHESIS
Each example is based on the complete list of MPD tasks, for which a
pre-determined utilization is applied.
Tasks depending on:
- Vendor Recommendation,
- National Requirements,
- Notes
are not considered in the planning.
Tasks with threshold or interval below or exceeding the limit of
examples are also not considered.
These tasks are identified by a star * in the NC (Not Considered)
column.

10 XM33-MPD/MPDS Training 2005 Ref.AI/SEM31/955.0097/05

MPD & MPDS

A320FAM Maintenance Event Planning-Examples ( refer to MPD Appendix)

Three examples are provided based on a study of the utilization distribution

of A318/A319/A320/A321 Fleet:
a) 1800 - 2000 FH/YE and a ratio of 1 FH per FC

b) 2000 - 2800 FH/YE and a ratio of 2 FH per FC

c) 2800 - 3500 FH/YE and a ratio of 2.6 FH per FC
In each example the A event is 600 FH and the C event is 6000 FH.

To optimise the packaging when the interval does not permit inclusion in a
whole A or C event interval, those tasks are de-escalated to a more frequent
package. In addition as the major event is planned to correspond with the
minor event, some threshold or interval values could be truncated at this
occasion.
The example covers the first 6 YE of utilization corresponding to the first
intermediate heavy check. These examples do not consider the planning of
Sampling tasks.

MPD & MPDS

The Maintenance Planning Data Support (MPDS) is an

additional service provided by Airbus on a commercial
basis.
The aim is to supply the operator with Maintenance
Data for scheduled Maintenance task accomplishment.
This Data is built to take into account the specific
operators maintenance requirements (Aircraft Mod.
Status, Maintenance Concept, Aircraft Utilisation and
Operators Resources).
An Airbus/Operator joint customisation analysis is suggested six (6) months
prior to aircraft entry into service.
