Day Objective Duration Follow-up Implementation Strategies

1 Objective 40 min Yes Students will be guided through a Model, Coach, and Apply
1 method in order to draft their own opinion statements that reflect
the topic, opinion, and two reasons that support the opinion.

Follow-up will require students to post their drafted opinion


statement to their group writing blog.

2 Objective 40 min If needed Students will be guided through a Model, Coach, and Apply
1&4 method in order to provide effective constructive feedback to
their peers using the Notice/Wonder strategy.

Follow-up will be provided for students who need more time to


reply to their group members with constructive feedback on the
writing blog.

3 Objective 40 min Yes Students will be guided through a Model, Coach, and Apply
2 method in order to brainstorm and plan two examples to support
each reason drafted during Objective 1.

Follow-up will require students to review their group members


comments, make the changes necessary, and type their updated
opinion statement to their own Google Doc.

4 Objective 40 min Yes Students will be guided through a Model, Coach, and Apply
2&4 method in order to transfer their reason and example ideas on
their graphic organizer into complete sentences using transition
words or phrases if necessary. Students will type their rough
draft sentences for Reason #1 and Example #1 onto the writing
blog.

Follow-up will require students to reply to their group members


posts with constructive feedback using the Notice/Wonder
strategy.

5 Objective 40 min If needed Students will review their group members comments, make
2 changes, then add their final first reason and example to their
Google Docs page.

Follow-up during reading centers will be provided if students


need more time to review and type.

6 Objective 40 min Yes Student and teacher will repeat the process from day 4, but draft
2&4 reason #2 and example #2.

7 Objective 40 min If needed Student and teacher will repeat the process from day 5, but
2 review feedback and update reason #2 and example #2.

8 Objective 40 min Yes Students will be guided through a Model, Coach, Apply method
3 where students will be able to practice with various transition
words and phrases to easily transition from one reason and
example to the next.
Follow-up during reading centers will require students to add in
the transition words and/or phrases they chose during their
lesson to their Google Doc.

9 Concluding 40 min Yes Although this lesson is not included in the capstone project, I
statement believe it is still important to reflect in the timeline, since this is
still an aspect of the writing process.
