    Theeventsofrecenttimescausemanyofustoask:'IstherestillspacefordialoguewithMuslims?'.Theansweris:yes,morethan
    ever.FirstlybecausethegreatmajorityofMuslimsthemselvesdonotidentifywiththecurrentactsofbarbarism.Unfortunatelytoday
    theword'religious'isoftenassociatedwiththeword'violence',whereasbelieversmustdemonstratethatreligionsarerequiredtobe
    heraldsofpeaceandnotviolence.

    TokillinthenameofreligionisnotonlyanoffencetoGod,butitisalsoadefeatforhumanity.On9January2006PopeBenedictXVI,
    addressingtheDiplomaticCorpsandspeakingaboutthedangerofclashesbetweencivilisationsandinparticularorganisedterrorism,
    affirmedthat'Nosituationcanjustifysuchcriminalactivity,whichcoverstheperpetratorswithinfamy,anditisallthemore
    deplorablewhenithidesbehindreligion,therebybringingthepuretruthofGoddowntotheleveloftheterroristsownblindnessand
    moralperversion'.

    Unfortunatelyinrecentdayswehavewitnessedaradicalisationofcommunityandreligiousdiscourse,withtheconsequentrisksof
    increasinghatred,violence,terrorismandthegrowingandcommonplacestigmatisationofMuslimsandtheirreligion.

    Insuchacontextwearecalledupontostrengthenfraternityanddialogue.Believershaveformidablepotentialforpeace,ifwebelieve
    thatmanwascreatedbyGodandthathumanityisasinglefamilyandevenmoresoifwebelieve,asweChristiansdo,thatGodisLove.
    Continuingtoengageindialogue,evenwhenexperiencingpersecution,canbecomeasignofhope.Believersdonotwishtoimpose
    theirvisionofhumanityandofhistory,butratherseektoproposerespectfordifferences,freedomofthoughtandreligion,the
    protectionofhumandignity,andlovefortruth.

    Wemusthavethecouragetoreviewthequalityoffamilylife,themethodsofteachingreligionandhistory,andthecontainofsermons
    inourplacesofworship.Aboveall,familyandschoolsarethekeytoensuringthattomorrowsworldwillbebasedonmutualrespect
    andbrotherhood.

    UnitingourvoicetothatofPopeFrancis,wesay:'anyviolencewhichseeksreligiousjustificationwarrantsthestrongestcondemnation
    becausetheOmnipotentistheGodoflifeandpeace.TheworldexpectsthosewhoclaimtoadoreGodtobemenandwomenofpeace
    whoarecapableoflivingasbrothersandsisters,regardlessofethnic,religious,culturalorideologicaldifferences'(Ankara,28
    November2014).
