1. Based on Archaeologist Dr. Jago Coopers documentary Lost Kingdoms of South


America: People of the Clouds, what interesting facts can you recall about the people,
culture and landscape of South America?( /3 K /1 C)
Ans : Dr. Jago has bring us back into the pass through his journey, I gather so much
new knowledge from his explanation. One interesting fact is about Chachapoya, their
funeral tradition. They build mummy and decorate them with painted faces, they used
some method to preserve mummy to be long lost to decay, to be protected the remain
respected dead. In believe that people who had died, their spirit still left in their body so
they want those spirit to stay with them. Furthermore, Chachapoya is a warrior tribe.
They settled on a mountaintop near a river in South America. They had once been able
to occupied big forest area.

2. Chapter 6 of LWFC demonstrates the relationship between Indigenous culture and


Western Influences in South America. Find a quotation in Chapter 6 that provides us
with a window into this relationship. Write a short paragraph explaining the significance

Ans : I found "As she work, she felt proud of herself for being up to-date with the best
scientific knowledge, which allowed her to protect her family health using an appropriate
modern method--- not like the Kikapu and her herbs". In this passage show about when
the Western culture had came and play almost major role in South America people
mind, making them fall into a false believe, in western style of healing is the best, use
herb or their old tradition is outdated. But at last when Peter got sick and almost died,
Mary couldnt help him by using Western culture, but instead of Kikapu, another name
Morning light. She save peter life by using her tribe tradition, herbs. Its mean the one
that was outdated doesnt need to be bad, also the one that is new doesnt to be good.

Ans :
- Morning light got demonstrate in law nineteen, Respect others religious beliefs.
Do not force your belief on others. She got kidnapped from her tribe and got
called as Kikapu, meaning in bad way. In a time Peter is ill and get into a bad
stage no one believe in Morning light healing tradition instead they all believe in
Modern scientific method, make Peter get into more danger stage. The one who
save him is Morning light and her belief in tradition, herbs.
- Tita would benefit most from law number four, Treat the guests in your home with
much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat
them with respect and honor. Because as we can see when Tita set apart from
her mother and got a well treated by Dr. John Brown, her mind starting to heal
and start to move forward to her future.

4. Chapter 6 of LWFC has an extended metaphor. What is an extended metaphor?


Write a paragraph identifying the extended metaphor, using quotations to describe how

Ans : Extended metaphor is when an author use Metaphor in a long passage, it purpose
is to make more clearer comparison between two things. The extended metaphor in
Chapter 6 would be Each of us is born with a box of matches inside us but we cant
strike them ourselves, just as in the experiment p.115. In this passage, Dr. John want
to tells Tita about her life cant be alone without a people help. Simply she need to fight
for her future to ignite the box again.
