Create a floor plan for a community center. Write a proposal for the types of activities
that happen there and make sure there is a functional space for each activity. Design the
square footage of each room and open space and find an appropriate place in the
community to build the center. Include the scale of the design. Write a letter to your
alderman describing the plan and making suggestions.

provided on the task sheet. All answers should be typed and submitted as a Google

paragraphs.
2.) Describe three of the services/programs that the ABCC provides to residents of the community.
Discuss the service and the benefits of such a service. Write one paragraph about each service.
3.) Choose one of the services/programs you wrote about in Question 2. Write one paragraph about
the resources and space needed for this service/program. Include any obstacles to finding these

Each room should have a different shape, and at least one room should have an irregular shape.
Plan the dimensions of each room based on the number of people you would reasonably like to
fit in each room (i.e., if you want to include a swimming pool, it does not make sense for it to be
1in. x 5in.)
Draw your plan to scale on grid chart paper. (Ask Ms. Nolan for a piece if you will be working
on this at home.)
