But not all 1955 Corvettes were V8- powered, as a small number of six-cylinder models were also built + Electrical systems were changed to 12-vott in 1955 Corvette models, ‘except for the six-cylinder models which continued to use the 6-volt systems common to 1953-54. + Corvettes with VBs in. 1955 were identified by an enlarged gold "V" attached over the small "vin the Chevrolet script on both front fenders. ‘iso, the vehicle identification number (vin) for V8 models started with a *V." ‘Soccylinder models had standard scripts and no *V" in their vins.
