API 6A recommends PSL's to the user for various service conditions, for the customer to use in specifying his requirements to the manufacturer.

PSL DECISION TREE (effective 2-1-05)

API 6A recommendations for PSL are for primary parts of the wellhead assembly, which include as a minimum:
Tubing Head, Tubing Hanger, Tubing Head Adapter and Lower Master Valve.
Other wellhead parts are classified as secondary. PSL for secondary parts may be
START the same or less than the PSL for primary parts.
