C. Motivation

Name of game activity: Act it Out!

The students will be in pairs. Each pair will have to act based on what their partner
picked on the jar. The jar consists of sentences that describe common scenarios in the
community. Each student must do their partner says to gain extra points.

A verb is a word that is usually one of the main part of sentence and that
expresses an action, an occurrence, or a state of being.
A singular noun uses a singular verb
A plural noun uses a plural verb

Verbs are action words that are very useful in everyday life. These words tell us
what our actions are all about and how these actions correspond to our attitude as
a person. In using verbs, we have to remember that appropriateness is still
observed. Now to avoid misinterpretation and complication, we have to look into
the fact that we have to observed our actions at home and even in the public areas.

Adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun.

DEGREES OF COMPARISON:

1. The Positive Degree is used to denote the mere existence of quality. The
Positive Degree of an adjective in comparison is the adjective in its simple form.

It is used to denote the mere existence of some quality of what we speak about. It
is used when no comparison is made.
2. The Comparative Degree is used to compare the qualities of two persons or
things. The Comparative Degree denotes the existence of a higher degree of the quality
than the positive. It is used when two things (or two sets of things) are compared.

3. The Superlative Degree denotes the existence of the highest degree of the
quality. It is used when more than two things are compared. The Superlative Degree is
used when more than two nouns or things are compared.

1. Abstract nouns are those referring to ideas, concepts, emotions, and other things
you cant physically interact with.

2. A collective noun is a word that refers to a group.

3. Common nouns are used to refer to general things rather than specific examples.
Common nouns are not normally capitalized unless they are used as part of a proper
name or are placed at the beginning of a sentence.

4. Concrete nouns are words used for actual things you can touch, see, taste, feel, and
hear things you interact with every day.
5. A common noun names general items. Go into the kitchen. ... The important thing to
remember is that common nouns are general names. Thus, they are not capitalized
unless they begin a sentence or are part of a title.
6. Proper nouns are those that name specific things, do require capitalization.

What is a figure of speech?


- is figurative language in the form of a single word or phrase. It can be a
special repetition, arrangement or omission of words with literal meaning, or
a phrase with a specialized meaning not based on the literal meaning of the
words.

Simile- a Figure of speech in which a comparison is made between unlike or dissimilar


objects using the words like or as.
Metaphor- a Figure of Speech in which a comparison is drawn between two dissimilar or
unlike things without the use of like or as.
Personification- a figure of speech in which animals, ideas, or objects are given human
characteristics or form
Hyperbole- a figure of speech in which an exaggeration or overstatement is made to
illustrate a point
Metonymy- a figure of speech in which a part represents a whole or a whole represents a
part

Activity: Play the hangman game in the internet. Identify which figure of speech is asked on
each item. Write your score on a sheet of paper.
