Teacher Notes
I created these task cards for my students to do before we move on to elapsed time.
Because I teach third grade, students are required to use phrases such as half past,
quarter after, and quarter to. You will find four cards that tell students to write the
time in two ways. Students should write the time in digital format and using the above
phrases. The last four cards require students to draw a clock with the time shown.
Print, laminate for durability, cut out, and use. Simple as that! I have included a
recording sheet for students as well as an answer key. You could easily have students
write their answers on a sheet of paper if you are limited on copies.
Because some classes/grades dont use the above phrases, I have included two
separate sets of cards with corresponding answer keys. Please ONLY print the set that
you need.
I am setting this up as an around the room activity. I will have the cards hanging
around the room (I have done this in the hall before as well) and students will work
with a partner hunting for the cards and solving the problems on each card. These
could also be used in a game of scoot or in math centers.
