Neighborhood Beautification Day + O Street Artist Open Studio

Saturday April 22nd, 9am - 6pm


Celebrating Earth Day and getting to know our neighbors to increase safety!

Please join us on Saturday, April 22nd 2017 for our annual ANC 5E Neighborhood
Beautification Day & Artist Open Studios Event. No matter if you live, work, study or are a
client visiting the neighborhood you are welcome!

Volunteer to plant flowers along the tree boxes in the morning. Visit the art studios, brake
bread and dance with your neighbors in the afternoon. Learn about the new public art mural
campaign coming to O Street.

Bring a dish from your city/country of origin to share.

Participate in the Spring Clean Up Yard Sale on Saturday, March 25, 10am5pm.
Located at Friendship Armstrong PCS on 1st street between O & P Streets NW.
Everything sold under $5. One persons trash is another persons treasure. A vendor
participation fee of $10-25 will go towards Beautification Day. Vendors must provide
their own table and chair.

8:3010am: Coffee/donuts at S.O.M.E, 71 O Street, N.W. 1st & N Streets, N.W.
9amnoon: Plant flowers and community beautification 1st & P Streets, N.W.
11am - 5pm: 52 O Street Artist Open Studio
noon - 6pm: Drums/dancing on O Street with 7 Drum City & BollyX
1pm - 2:30pm: Potluck at House of Lebanon Senior Apartments, 27 O Street N.W.
Our Neighborhood Beautification Day Goals:

Stop the violence and increase our safety!


Add color and spring flowers to the neighborhood.
Bring people together outside of their house or office.
Promote respect for all people including the young, the seniors, the homeless,
women, girls, yourself, etc. LOVE thy neighbor!
Inspire a community service spirit in our young people.
Embrace our homeless population.
Create an environment where people look out for each other.
Take charge by committing to a neighborhood watch campaign.

Decrease the isolation of our seniors.
Get more youth involved in community service and in proactive approaches to stop
the violence!
Advocate for affordable housing and spaces.
Encourage asset mapping of our neighborhood to inform residents about local
shopping and business.
Look up and say hi while passing each other on the street.
Discover the O Street Artist Studios, the longest lasting home for working artists in
Washington.
Support the creation of public art murals bringing positive messages to the
community through color.
