Simple toll plaza system charges the toll tax from the user irrespective of the

type of his vehicle. This project also considers the vehicle type while
charging the toll amount. The RFID tag is used as a unique identity for
account of a particular user.

When a vehicle drives through the toll plaza, its driver is prompted to scan
his RFID tag. If the identity (serial number of the tag, i.e., 12 byte data) is
matched with the one already stored in the system, the toll amount is
deducted from his account. After this, the vehicle gets immediate access to
drive through. All the features of the Simple toll plaza system are also
provided in this project by interfacing RFID with AT89C51.

When a new user registers his vehicle, he is prompted to specify the vehicle
type. LCD displays a message asking the user to press 1 if 2 wheeler; press
2 if 4 wheeler. After pressing one of these keypad switches, the vehicle is
registered on the system.

Two-wheeler and four-wheeler categories have different charges. In this case

the toll amount considered is Rs.10 & Rs.20, respectively. After registration,
the user is prompted to scan his tag or ID. The serial code of the tag is
identified by the reader module and is sent to AT89C51 for comparison with
stored data. If the ID is matched by the microcontroller, the toll amount
(depending on vehicle type) is deducted from users balance and user gets to
drive through the plaza. If the tag is not recognized by the system, a
message (Wrong ID) is displayed on LCD screen.

VLSI: In the field of IC technologies, there is a constant demand for energy

efficiency solutions. Near-Threshold Computing (NTC) is a technique that reduces
energy consumption of IC devices, but it also makes them slower. We are applying
NTC to a device constructed in 130 nm CMOS technology in the purpose of
designing reasonably priced low-power IC devices suitable for low performance
applications.
