Unit I Elements of Teaching and Learning:

CHAPTER 2: THE TEACHER

In this chapter, I learned about the requirements of being a

teacher. A teacher must be a professional by acquiring a license
through the Board for Professional Teachers & the Professional
Regulation Commission after fulfilling the requirements of the law
by passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
In addition, I also learned that the professional teachers must
possess a SENSE OF EFFICACY, SUBJECT MATTER KNOWLEDGE,
and PEDAGOGICAL KNOWLEDGE. He must also have the personal
attributes that endears him to the learners & will serve as a model to
character-building. It is very encouraging to know that a teacher can
be effective by having a personality that is genuine, open and
consistent.
I think that patience is the important trait to develop when
handling children, to be followed by humor & enthusiasm. These
traits draw the children toward the teacher.
