Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: As a class we will discuss how important it is that we conserve
our resources and learn new ways to recycle what we use. Then the students will work
independently to do research on our use of water and find a average of how much water they use
daily. Then they will compare their use of water with their classmates, other people that live in
the United States and then lastly will compare their use of water with people who live in other
parts of the world. We will also go through the website together and complete some of the
student activities in as a whole group, small groups and independently.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Students will need computer and internet access but will be doing the activities
during class time on laptops, iPads or in the computer lab.
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and
often beyond their school: Students will work in groups after collecting their
households use of water daily in order to compare their average uses with their
peers and then students will go online in order to compare their use of water to
other people in the United States and then will compare their use of water to
people all around the world.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data
and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project):
Students will collect their average amount of water used in their house and the
collect data of the average amount of water used in the United States and also
other countries.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will conclude how their use of water compares
to others all around the world.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about
their product: The class as a whole may create an excel sheet to share online for
others to view which will be posted by the teacher.

websites and also will not post anything publicly online unless approved by the teacher.
