I, _____________________________, have given my student ____________________

Permission to tryout for the cheerleading squad at GCHS. I recognize that cheerleading
is a strenuous activity. In that regard, I know of no pre-existing condition, injury or
illness, etc. which would limit participation at tryouts of cheerleading. I will also see that
she gets a physical like all other athletes, attend summer camp and all practices and
games unless excused by the coach in advanced. I have read and fully understand the
rules and regulations which have govern my students if selected to represent Greeley

certain items that cannot be passed down from squad to squad and have to be purchased by
the individual. Additionally, each cheerleader is responsible for paying camp tuition. We cannot
guarantee these will be the only costs throughout the year but these are the required pieces of
clothing and accessories each cheerleader is required to have.

TIME COMMITMENT AGREEMENT

My students and I understand that cheerleading is a huge time commitment as well as

an economic commitment and we are willing to participate fully in the program if my
student/ I make the 2017-2018 cheer squad. I understand the following date are
required by all cheerleaders and if we have other time commitments like vacation and
camps they will need to be worked around these dates. The dead period for summer
will be the month of July.
Summer 2017 practices- Month of June
Cheerleading Camp- June 13th and 14th
Regular practices- Start in August- March (May change due to basketball
season)
Choreography Camp- TBD.
Competition dates will be announced later this season.
Game schedules will be sent home once they are published.

We understand that unexcused absences from practices, events and games will result
in the loss of ability to letter. We understand that cheerleading is a team sport and the
absence of one member hurts the whole entire team.

Essay Questions

Please answer the following questions seriously, they will reflect on you as a person
and be taken into account for tryouts. Please write legibly.
1. Why do you want to be a Greeley Central Cheerleader? Explain how you
would help enhance the program.

2. What do you believe in the role of a Greeley Central Cheerleader?

3. Describe several ways you will be a role model on the squad on in school?
The purpose of being on the Greeley Central Cheerleading squad is to promote GCHS
spirit, to motivate and inspire Wildcat fans, and to maintain a good sense of
sportsmanship. In addition to supporting GCHS teams the goal of the squad is to
establish positive relationships with other team members, other schools, and other fans
within our conference. Cheerleaders will serve as positive role models and leaders for
GCHS and throughout the community, as well as challenging themselves to work at
improving their skills individually, as well as a team.

The TEAM
- The Varsity squad will consist of up to 25 freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors
who will cheer at Varsity sports games, competitions and pep rally events as determined
by the coaches.
Practices
- Cheerleaders will report appropriately dressed in t-shirt, shorts, cheers shoes, with
jewelry off, and if your hair is longer than your shoulders prepare to put it up.
- A tentative schedule will be given out at the beginning of each month with practice,
location, and times.
- All practices are mandatory.
- If there is an absence it must be cleared with the coach prior to the absence, work will
not be excused. If you are ill, you must bring a note from your parents to the next
practice stating that you were ill. Squad members may not participate in any practice or
game activity on the days that they are absent from school.

Games
- All cheerleaders will get a schedule of the games they are required to attend. All
cheerleaders will be at these set games unless otherwise specified.
- When cheering the squad will wear the official uniform designated for that game.
Everyone is to match, we are a TEAM.

Attendance
- ABSENCES CAN BE THE DOWNFALL OF A GREAT CHEERLEADING SQUAD!
- You are expected to be at all games and practices. Jobs, club activities, extracurricular
activities, doctors appointments, etc. must not interfere with cheerleading.
- Unexcused absences are those caused by anything other than illness or family
emergencies. In addition, just because a cheerleader asks to be excused it doesnt
mean that the excuse will be granted.

- Missing Practice
Tardy for practice -- extra conditioning!
Leaving early for work/ personal reasons -- you will sit out 1 quarter at the next game.
Missing practice for reasons other than illness/family emergency -- sit out 2 quarters.
Having to sit out more than 2 games in a season will result in being asked to step down
as a cheerleader.
- Missing Games
Missing games, or events is inexcusable unless a parent has notified coaches to inform
of illness or family emergency.
Uniforms
- Uniforms are issued by the school and are property of the GCHS Athletic Department. If
for any reason a cheerleader quits or is dismissed, he/she is expected to return all
uniforms/equipment within 5 days of the termination.
- These uniforms must be kept clean, this includes spanks, socks, body liners, and warm-
ups.
- Hair must be out of your face and off your shoulders.
- Absolutely no jewelry! NO earrings, watches, necklaces, bracelets or piercings of any
kind. All will need to be removed.

Conduct
- There will be absolutely NO smoking, drinking, use of drugs or any other conduct
unbecoming to the squad or school.

Fundraising
- Every cheerleader will be expected to support all fundraising events which support the
team.

Coaches reserve the right to make changes/additions to the rules as needed. In addition, if you
have any questions or concerns, please contact Coach Deitering. When finished with
completing the whole packet write Go Cats Go in orange on the top of the packet.
