Art Activities
Creating a Scene
o Creating a scene from a book or play can help create real-world
connections
o This could be used in language arts or even in history
1. Students would read a piece of literature or learn about a moment in
history
2. Using markers, crayons, colored pencils, construction paper, etc. they
would recreate that scene
3. Students would then write a paragraph on the back of their paper
describing the scene and why it is important within the context of the
book/history.
Instruction Manual
o This art project could be used in science or math
1. Students will choose a science experiment or math problem
2. They will create a step-by-step instructions manual demonstrating how
the science experiment or math problem is completed
3. Students will draw, color, and organize their manuals.
Food Pyramid
o This art project could be used in physical education or health class
1. Students will work together to create a large poster of the food
pyramid
2. They must discuss which foods go where and then draw and color
different foods on the different levels
3. As a class, they must then decide which foods would be best to eat and
how much is healthy to eat
Coloring Music
o This art project can be done in a music class
1. Students will use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to draw the
music they hear
2. Music has a physical or emotional effect, so the students must draw
what they think and feel
3. When they are finished with their drawing, they will flip their paper
over and on the back side write a reflection of their experience
