Thisguideoutlineshowtoaddandremove.dlland.fw(firmware),updatefirmware,program,andtunetheradios.
Note:The.dllmustmatchthefirmwareinstalledinthetargetradio(anerrormessagewithadvicewillbedisplayed
ifthereisamismatch).
TheEntelProgrammersupportsautoandmanualupdatesovertheinternetormanuallybyimportingfilesfroma
USBdrive,CDetc.

PREPARINGTHERADIOPROGRAMMINGMODE:
1.1 Removetheaccessorycovertorevealtheaccessorysocket.

1.2 Connecttheprogrammingleadtotheradiosaccessorysocket,attachingtheotherendtoyourcomputers
serialport(onlyfingertight).

driver(thedriverisincludedwithEntelprogrammer).

imagebelow).

PUTTHERADIOINTOFLASHMODE:
Thefollowingstepsarenotnecessaryiftheradioisknowntohavethelatestsoftware.Ifthisisthecase,pleasego
tostep9foraprogrammingguide.

2.1 Puttheradioin"ProgrammingMode"byturningtheradioonwhileholdingthelowerbuttononthesideof
theradio.ThiswillcausetheradiotobeeponceandtheLEDtoflashbetweenGREENandORANGE.

menubarORclickontheReadbutton.
2.3 Whilsttheradioisbeingreadyouwillseeaprogressbar.

Ensuretheradiosfirst7channelsareprogrammedwithchanneldata.
Changethechanneltochannel3.
3.2 Turntheradioonandwaitfortheradiotobootfully,thiswillbesignalledby1sharpbeepsfollowedby
severalquickbeeps.
3.3 Swiftlybutaccuratelyturnthevolumeencoder/channelselector4positionsclockwise,3positionsanti
clockwise,2positionsclockwise,1positionanticlockwiseandthenfor:
TheHXseriespressthePTTbutton(thelargetransmitbuttonontheleftsideoftheradio)andtheradio
shouldbeeptwice.
TheHTseriesmomentarilypressthePowerButton.
3.4 Turntheradiooff,waitacoupleofsecondsandturntheradioonagain.
3.5 OnLCDmodelsyoushouldsee'EntelUpgradeSystem'andversionnumber(normallyv1.6).TheLEDshould
constantlyglowGREEN,exceptonolderversions(beforev1.6)wheretheradiosLEDwillextinguish.Totest
iftheradioisinflashupdatemodepressthePTT,iftheLEDgoesREDtheradioisnotinflashupdatemode.
Thisprocesscansometimesbealittledifficultandmaytakeseveraltries.

Scan:Thescanwindowallowsyoutocreatescansthatcanbeusedto
scanthechannelsindifferentwaysorwithdifferentoptions.
Selcall:Selcallradioswilldisplayafoldercontaining5menuitems:
SystemTable:Thesystemtablewindowcontainsthe
configurationfortheselcallsequences,includingtheirformat
andtimings.
EncodeTable:Thistablecontainsalistoftheselcallencodesequences.
DecodeTable:Thistablecontainsalistoftheselcalldecodesequences.

SerialNumber:Theserialnumberforthe
radio.
FrequencyRange:Thefrequencyrangeforthe
radio.
BatteryChargeCount:Thechargecountfor
theradio.
ReplaceBatteryText:Thetextthatis
displayedoncethebatterychargecount
reachesitslimit.
CustomerName:Thenameofthecustomer,thisinformationisstoredintheradiobutnotdisplayed.
ReadProtectPassword:Thisisasecuritymeasurethatpreventscurrentdataintheradiobeingviewedwithout
thecorrectpassword.Newdatacanstillbewrittentotheradio,however,thiswillerasethepreviousdataon
theradio.
SwitchOnMsg:AmessagethatisdisplayedinplaceofthestartuplogoonradioswithLCD.
TurnOnImage:ThisallowsyoutoreplaceEntelslogowithacustomerlogo.
Update:ThisisashortcuttoopenEntelFlashwriter.

Thebuttontabofthegeneralwindowallowsyou

H/M/LPower:Thisfunctionallowsyouto
togglethepoweroftheradiostransmitfrom
high,mediumtolow.Thisfunctionalsoneeds
tobeenabledinthechannelwindow.
VOX:VOX(voiceoperatedtransmit)isusedto
enabletransmissionondetectionofspeech
(handsfreemode).
MonitorOn/Off(tonedefeat):Themonitor
functionremovesthefiltersfortheradio
allowingtheusertohearalltransmissions
andthetonedefeatalsomeanstheradiowill
receiveallsignalsregardlessofthesubtone.
MonitorOn/Off(SquelchandToneDefeat):
Themonitorfunctionremovesthefiltersfor
theradioallowingtheusertohearalltransmissionsandthetonedefeatalsomeanstheradiowillreceiveall
signalsregardlessofthesubtoneandthesquelchmeansthesquelchthresholdhasbeenremoved.
BeepMute(On/Off):Thisfunctionmutesorunmutestheradioskeyandbuttonbeeps.
TalkaroundOn/Off:Talkaroundallowsahalfduplexchanneltobeusedasasimplexchannelbymakingthe
transmitparametersidenticaltoreceiveparameters.
NuisanceDelete:Nuisancedeleteenablestheusertotemporarilydeleteanuisancechannel(onethatis
constantlyreceivinginterferenceforexample)fromthescanlist.
ScramblerOn/Off:Enablingthescramblerdistortsanytransmissionsothatonlyanotherradiowiththesame
scramblerinversionpointcanunderstandthetransmission.
VoiceannunciationOn/Off:Iffittedthevoiceannunciationboardwillspeakthechannelnumberselected.
PanicAlarmSiren:Thepanicalarmsirenemitsahighpitched,fullvolumesirentonethroughtheradios
loudspeakeronpress.
FixedCall:AcallsequencethatcanbeinitiatedwithapressofaFixedCallbutton.Callsequencescanbe
allocatedtothefixedcallsoptionintheSystemTable.Eachsystemtablehas6fixedcallsthatcanbeallocated
tocallsequencesintheEncodeTable.
LoneWorkerOn/Off:Thisenabledordisabledtheloneworkerfunction.
ManDownOn/Off:Thisenabledordisabledthemandownfunction.
Emergency:Settingabuttontoemergencywillmanuallytriggeranemergencyalarmuponpresssimilartolone
workorthemandownfunctions.TheserequireSelcall/5Toneprogrammingtofunctioncorrectly.
KeyLock:Togglingthisfeatureslocksandunlocksallofthebuttonstostopbuttonsfromaccidentallybeing
pressed.
SquelchLevel:Thisfunctionallowstheusertochangethecurrentsquelchlevelviathecontrols.
SelcallMute/Unmute:Uponpressingthebutton,thechannelwillunmuteandbecomeanopenchannel
allowingallreceivedsignalstobeheard.
FixedChannel:Thisfeatureallowstheusertoaccesstoaparticularchannelinstantlyatapressofa
buttonwithoutnavigatingthroughalargenumbersofchannels.Itwillreverttothepreviouschannelwhenthe
buttonispressedagain.
ContactList:ThisbuttondisplaystheContactListmenu.
AudioMute:Thisfunctionwillputtheradioincompletesilentmode.Thespeakerandkeybeepwillbe
disableduntiltheaudiomuteisturnedoff.Theaudiomutecanalsobeturnedoffonchannelorvolume
change.
PTTButton:ThisfunctionconvertsafunctionbuttontoaPushToTalk(PTT)button.
PTT+FixedCH:SimilartoPTT,thisfeatureutilisesaFixedChannelspecifiedintheChanneltable,switchesto
thatchannelandtransmits,foraslongasthebuttonremainsheld.
Shunting:Whenassignedasshuntingishelddowntwoaudibletoneswillbeemittedlocallyandtransmittedon
thecurrentchannelsfrequency.

Toenterthechanneldataoftheradiofirstselect"Channel"todisplaythechannelwindow.Notallfeatureslisted
belowareapplicabletoallmodels.

RXFrequency Thefrequencythattheradiowillreceiveon.
RXSubtone Thesubtonethatisrequiredfortheradiotoreceivethetransmission.
TXFrequency Thefrequencythattheradiowilltransmiton.
TXSubtone Thesubtonethatistransmittedwiththeradiostransmissionstoensureprivacy.
12.5/20/25kHz Thisfieldstatesthechannelsspacingforthefield,whetheritwillbe12.5,20or25kHz.
Thisfieldcontrolsthepowerleveltheradiowilltransmiton,Hforhighpower,Mfor
PWRorPower mediumpowerandLforlowpoweronly.Aradiospowercanbechangedduringuseusing
theH/M/LPowerbuttonfunction.
PowerInhibit ThisfieldcontrolsifthepowerwillbefixedtothepowerlevelsetinthePWRfield.
Ifasquelchtaileliminatorisset,theradiowilltransmitthisafterthePTTisreleasetonotify
SquelchTail
thereceivingradiothatthespeakerneedstobeclosed.Thisremovesthepshtsquelchtail
Eliminator
noisefromthereceivingradio.
Controlshowtheradiowillbehaveifittriestotransmitwhenitisalreadyreceivingasignal.
OFFTheradiowillallowtransmissionifthePTTispressedwhenthechannelisbusy.
