Please accept this letter, rsum, and references as indication of my strong interest in obtaining a middle school or high
school social studies teaching position or administrative position during the upcoming school year. I earned my Masters
of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Mount Union in 2017, where I also earned my Bachelors of Arts
in History with a Secondary Education minor in 2011. While at Mount Union I was selected as the universitys
outstanding secondary education student upon graduation. I have spent the past two years teaching at Olentangy High
school, a year teaching in Springfield, Ohio and then two years prior teaching in North Carolina.

Currently I am a 9th grade World History and Advanced Placement World History teacher, teaching in Lewis Center, Ohio,
in a suburban district with about 500 students graduating per year. My goal as a teacher this year has been incorporating
collaboration among my students and helping my students think critically

Through my work at North Gaston High School in Gaston County Schools, I have the privilege of teaching several levels of
students, from sophomores to seniors, from students with special needs, to gifted young adults in Advanced Placement
courses. From 2012- 2014 I was able to teach over 300 diverse students with varying levels of needs. During this time, I
continued to develop my skills as a teacher. Working for North Carolina has broadened my perspective as an educator; it
is where I have been able to become familiar with the Common Core Standards and develop a rigorous curriculum. In
North Carolina I taught numerous classes including American History, Psychology, and Sociology. I loved teaching AP
Psychology; stretching the minds of the already gifted is a positive challenge I truly enjoyed.

Also, while at North Gaston I was able to use my skills to organize and align our curriculum for psychology across the
county. I participated in profession development workshops including data instruction, literacy, and using interactive
notebooks just to name a few. I coached Track and Field for my second season in North Carolina, coached one year of
Track and Field at Hilliard Weaver Middle School, and coached cross country in North Carolina. I am currently the Beta
Club advisor which promotes student community service within the school and the surrounding community.

As an educator, I strive to promote constant growth within each student. I believe it is imperative they enter the real
world with the necessary skills to be successful: Reading and writing are two of those skills. If one cannot read well, one
cannot write well. If individuals cannot effectively read and write, then their career options are incredibly limited. Being
technologically savvy is another MUST in todays world; helping to promote 21st century learners is a constant in my
classroom. We use Edmodo, Quizlet, Poll Everywhere, and other methods of a blended classroom.

In addition to teaching in Lewis Center, Ohio, Springfield, Ohio and Charlotte, North Carolina, I was a substitute for three
school districts in the Central Ohio area for a year, and completed my student teaching Chicago Public Schools. All of
these varied situations have helped me adapt quickly to new challenges and situations. However, while all of these
experiences have been wonderful, I am ready to accept a leadership position within your school district, I feet as though
the mission and quality of educational opportunities are something that I would like to be a part of.
