Un Recuerdo A Mi Pueblo

(A TRIBUTE TO MY TOWN)

On the first and second stanza, it is reflected that Rizal is recalling the
sweet memories of his childhood, when he stayed in the green fields with
cold wind breeze enjoying the fresh smell of nature.
While on the third stanza, Rizal expresses his feeling of longing for the life
near the lake while his mother cradles him with joy and love. He mentioned
that he misses the simple life way back home.
The fourth stanza signifies the candid Rizal, playing barefooted on the
woods and swimming on river banks. Moreover, he mentioned his devotion
as a catholic; that he misses praying in rural churches with his pure
intentions in his heart.
The fifth stanza is all about Rizals amusement and appreciation of Gods
creations. He expressed so by using words that describe the aged forest
and blue sky.
The sixth stanza is considered as the climax of this poem. Rizal gives
significance to the beauty of his hometown, a place founded by joyous
memories the he longs for. He also mentioned that all the pain of loneliness
is eased by the memories of his treasured hometown, that the hour he
thinks of it is so precious.
Lastly, the seventh stanza symbolizes his dream for his hometown to be as
peaceful and as happy as when he was there.
 Mi Primera Inspiracion
(My First Inspiration)

This poem praised the care of his mother from its natal day. The inspiration
of Rizal was purely devoted from the love and care of his mother. Here he
described the natural beauty from fragrance and sweetness of the flowers,
the flitting of the birds in the tender grass, the crystal spring and the feast in
carmine clouds. His birth was so fortunate to have loving mother who gave
her life. This was the inspiration that continually work hard to be educated
and live in tranquil through the blessing and care of his mother.
 AL NIO JESUS
(TO THE CHILD JESUS)

The poem begins with Rizal addressing the child Jesus and asking
him why he had chosen a lowly manger as the place through
which he would enter the world of humanity. He further enriches
this question by asking whether Fortune - in this case it could
mean wealth or power or prestige or all of the above - had
decided to stay far away from the Lord the moment he decided to
become a man.

"Alas" is a word expressing concern, grief, sorrow or pity and is

commonly used in traditional poetry. When Rizal adds this
expression to the second half of his poem, he signifies that he,
Rizal, as a man and having the perspective of a mere human
being, finds a part of himself that grieves over how much the
divine has given up in the process of his incarnation. He then ends
the poem with a rather rhetorical question: Wouldn't you rather
be Lord above the earth than be a mere shepherd of simple sheep
like the rest of us?
 A LA VIRGEN MARIA
(TO THE VIRGIN MARY)
In this poem Jose Rizal said that the Virgin Mary is
his Mother. And He ask for help that keep him safe
no matter what.

EDUCATION GIVES LIGHT TO

MOTHERLAND
In this poem Rizal express that the education is really important it
allows you to rise in matter of honor and a good name. He said
that they are able to find fault in the seemingly faultless fabric of
earthly knowledge and smother it with truth. They are well-
respected for the ideas they bring to the world. He also said that
good education is an effective remedy to the problem of criminal
acts and unlawful pursuits. Even nations who wish nothing more
than to divide, conquer, and control are silenced when they open
their ears to the voice of wisdom, which stops hatred in its tracks
and promotes the welfare of the people. Even savages, turn into
champions when they are afforded a good education.
Knowledge is everlasting there is no end to it. From the time of a
man's birth to the moment of his death, he is constantly engaged
in the journey of learning. This can come in the form of a formal
education and a structured curriculum, or in the essence of daily
living. And in this continued journey, people begin to discover and
innovate, create and recreate, giving birth to great discoveries
and breathtaking wonders.
An educated man does not sway when trials come. He stands firm
in the midst of trouble and remains courageous in times of
despair. Great horrors cannot frighten him as they do other
people. Education provides her country with strong and
respectable citizens who are ready to fight for her honor no
matter the cost.

A LA JUVENTUD FILIPINA
(TO THE FILIPINO YOUTH)
In this poem Rizal encourages the youth, by telling them to hold
their heads high for they possess talents and skills and abilities
that would make their country proud. He calls to genious to fill
young minds with noble thoughts and hopes that as they release
their thinking from the chains that bind, they may be able to soar
swiftly high where the joy of honor is and to break the chains that
bind their intellect. "Poetic genius" here does not necessarily
pertain to the talent of writing poetry. Instead, the term "poetic" is
simply an adjective to describe genius, meaning that it is deep
and mystifying and heavy with meaning.
Rizal challenges the youth, that in their pursuit of knowledge and
wisdom they may humble the hand of Spain, whose proud chin
did not look kindly upon the people whom they labelled as
"Indios" and whom they treated with contempt. And in the other
stanza Rizal also calls the youth to seek the beauty of poetry and
music, which he himself values greatly as essentials in every
manner of life. He claims that poetry is "more sweet than divine
honey," and that music can "dissipate man's sorrow's blight."
Rizal says that by the very impulse of their mind, they are
capable of bringing to life or animating even something as lifeless
and unmoving as a hard rock. He continues to say that the youth
is able, to immortalize their thoughts and their words through the
help of great genius as he has done himself.
Rizal believed the Filipino youth is as brilliant as those in any
other nation, and is able to contend with even the strongest
powers if they only set their mind to making most of what they
already have.

HIMNO A TALISAY
(HYMN TO TALISAY)
In the 1st and 2nd stanza of this poem Rizal remember his
childhood memories about the beaches, mountains, high rocks,
and valleys of Dapitan. While the 3nd 4th stanza tells how strong
children they are who knows how to fight or who can fight their
rights and can guard their families. The 5 th stanza is about how
fearless they are who can catch even lucifer. The 6 th stanza is
about all Filipino people who has a great soul. The 7 th and 8th
stanza is about their studies and how brave they are. To the last 2
stanzas Rizal compared the Filipino people to the qualities of
talisay tree that no matter what happen it will stay strong.

GOODBYE TO LEONOR
Rizal write a poem to his beloved Leonor when he
discovered that Leonor is already married. He take this
chance by saying goodbye and saying how much he love
her.

A JOSEFINA
In this poem Rizal told to her wife Josephine that dont
forget how much I love you even when she travel in a
different countries.
 MI RETIRO
This poem is about his life when he was in Dapitan, He
said how beautiful his place there. He said that his place
is at the bottom of the mountain which is quiet enough to
rest his mind. His poem also contained about his love to
God and his love to Leonor that hurt him so much when
he remember their goals and promises. This is his
greatest poem because when you read this youll think
that youre in Dapitan where you can see how beautiful
the ocean is and you can feel the fresh air.

MI ULTIMO ADIOS
This poem is about Rizals appreciation and love to his
motherland, citizen people and cultures. He keep thinking
back to the memories when he was young until the time
he starting making concept about a perfect country.
When he was thinking back he saw himself as a valuable
person made by God then he visualized how he badly
want his country to have freedom and peace.
He accept his death with all his dignity because he knew
that he already achived his goal. Goal that rarely one can
do or even see.
In the last minute of his life, he spent it thinking about all
the things he have done. He wanted to be known as a
person who gave all for his country and he also wanted to
make him as a model.
This poem also described all the unconditional love and
sacrifice of Rizal to his country.
