Dear Pantherette Hopefuls and Parents:

Your daughter has expressed an interest in becoming a member of the Award Winning Pantherettes. As the
April 13, 2017 team audition date nears, I feel it is important that you are aware of what is expected from
each candidate on the day of auditions, as well as understand my expectations of the girls who earn a
position on the 2017-2018 team. It is an honor to be selected as a member of Pantherettes, but it also carries
a lot of responsibility. In preparation for the April 13 audition date, it is important that you read all
correspondence received so that if your daughter is selected, you will be educated on the
commitment that she is making.

The Pantherette Hopefuls have a chance of earning a position on the 2017-2018 Award Winning Pantherette
Junior Varsity Dance Team. The 2017-2018 Auditions will determine which girls will be selected to the team.
It is important that you understand that not everyone who auditions will become a Pantherette. Only those
candidates that pass the audition process will be selected as members of the team.

We will be holding JV and Varsity auditions the same week. If you are a current 9th or 10th grader you have
several options:
1. Attend the varsity workshop with the hope of making either team. You will participate in the
varsity audition only, but if your scores do not qualify you to make the varsity team, but you do
qualify for the JV, you will be a member of the Pantherettes your sophomore or junior year.
2. Attend the varsity workshop with the intent to audition only for the varsity team. If you do
not make the varsity team, you elect to not be a member of the JV team even if your scores qualify
you for the JV team.
3. Attend only the JV workshop with the intent to only audition for the JV team. In this case
you should apply and attend the JV meeting Tuesday, April 4th at 6pm in the lecture hall.

The April 13th audition will be preceded by four phases. Those candidates who pass each of these four phases
will be the ones who participate in the final audition in front of the judges. The four phases and their
deadline dates are listed below:

FROM THE CHHS CAMPUS TRAINERS OFFICE (EXT. 4754) OR DOWN LOAD THE PAPER WORK OFF THE CHHS
WEBSITE. COST OF THE TICKET IS $25.00. YOU MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH MS. STAMPS PRIOR TO
OFFICER AND TEAM CAMP. IF YOU HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH A PRIOR COACH THAT IS GOOD
THROUGH OUR SCHEDULED CAMP DATES, YOU MAY TURN THAT PHYSICAL INTO ME. HOWEVER, YOU MUST HAVE A

PRACTICE OR PERFORMACE.

(In order to pass Phase Two of the Pantherette Audition Process, the above HIGHLIGHTED information MUST be
completed and returned to the CHHS front office or to Ms. Stamps (Dance Office), NO LATER than 4:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, APRIL 5, 2017. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE BY THE DIRECTOR. ALL INFORMATION MUST BE
COMPLETE.)

The Pantherette Workshops, April 10-12 is when the girls will learn the audition routines, as well as the proper
stretching, kicking, and dancing techniques necessary to make the team.

Friday, APRIL 13, 2017 will be the only audition date that will be offered for girls currently enrolled in GCISD. Auditions
will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Candidates will need to be ready to receive their audition numbers at 4:30 p.m. and will
remain in the holding gym until their groups audition in front of the judges is complete. Only candidates and returning
team members, along with the audition assistants, are allowed in the holding gym. Auditions will begin at 4:30 p.m., and
candidates will be allowed to leave at the conclusion of the audition process. Ms. Stamps will dismiss you. Auditions are
closed; therefore, there will be no spectators/family members allowed during the auditions.

The number of selected 2017-2018 line members will be based upon the number of candidates auditioning and their final
score variations. The final team will consist of freshman, sophomores and juniors (of the 2017-2018 school year). Each
candidate will be judged on a 330-point scale. The candidates will audition in front of three certified judges. Each judge
will score the girls on a 100-point scale; all three judges scores will be added together for a possible judging total of 300
points. Thirty points will come from the Student Evaluation for Cheerleading and Drill Team. From this score, the judges
will make their selections. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL. Again, this is the only auditions date; the girls will be
judged on their performance on that date only.

As director, I am asking for parents to prepare their daughters for the possibility of making the team, as well as
the possibility of not making the team. This is an important step in each girls life; some will experience the
thrill of victory, while others will experience the agony of defeat. If she has your complete support, she will be
able to keep her final outcome in perspective. Each girl is a winner for trying, but she must understand that
membership is limited.

If you are not selected to be a member of the Pantherette Dance Team, you may elect to enroll in our dance IV
class. This class is a prep class which will help you further develop your dance skills. We also offer dance I at
CHHS.

Any Pantherette Hopeful who is also interested in auditioning for Line Officer will be able to pick up a packet in the
CHHS front office, or at the middle schools. Any Pantherette Hopeful wanting to audition for Line Officer must audition
and make the 2017-2018 Pantherette Team. The Pantherette Line Officer Auditions will be held on FridayD, April 21,
2017 @ 4:30 PM in the CHHS Dance Gym. More details will be available in the Officer Audition Packet/see attached.

Pantherette managers apply directly with Ms. Stamps and those application packets will be available the week after
tryouts. This is an option for those who do not make the 2017-2018 Pantherette Dance Team or for anyone interested in
being a non-dancing member of the team. Manager interviews are April 18st from 4-5pm in Ms. Stamps office (located
above the dance gym). Email for an interview time. cara.stamps@gcisd.net.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Stamps, (817) 305-4700, ext. 4762 or cara.stamps@gcisd.net

Sincerely,

Cara Stamps, Pantherette Director

routines, one officer routine, and optional solos and
ensembles.

As you can see, dance team is a full year commitment. If you, or your daughter, feel that she cannot
meet these expectations she should not participate in the Pantherette Audition. It is an honor to be
selected as a member of the award winning organization. It requires enthusiasm and dedication not
only from the girls but also from the parents. The team can be the best only if it has your support. I
hope each of you will be willing to give your support to your daughter and the team as these girls
prepare for a successful season.
