Atomic Theory

Atomic Theory is the theory, which all matter is made up of tiny indivisible
particles (atoms). According to current interpretations of the theory, the
atoms of each element are effectively identical, but vary from those of other
elements, and unite to form compounds in fixed proportions.

Element - A crucial or characteristic part of something abstract.

Molecule - A group of atoms fused together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a
biochemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.

Compound - a thing that is composed of two or more separate elements, which is a mixture.

The elements on the periodic table are, classified into three categories
Metals, Non-Metals and Metalloids. The way they have arranged the periodic
table is Metals on the left, Metalloids on the right and Non-Metals is located
in between Metals and Metalloids.

Currently there are 118 elements on the periodic table as four new elements,
have been added Nh (Nihonium), Mc (Moscovium), Ts (Tennessine), and Og
(Oganesson).

Einstien and his theory of relativity. In 1905 Albert Einstien created the
Theory of Relativity stating that (Energy = Mass x Speed Of Light Squared) or
more commonly know as (E = mc2 ). Einstein calculated the movement of
molecules in a liquid can cause the Brownian motion.

Using Max Plancks quantum Theory he formulated the photon theory of light
and explains the photoelectric effect.

In 1916 proposes general theory of relativity-still central to our

understanding of the universe. Einstein changed the political balance of
power in the twentieth century, through his scientific foundation in the
development of atomic energy.

Year 9 Atomic Theory
In 1803, John Dalton put the pieces of the puzzle together
and developed atomic theory. His theory contains five basic
assumptions:

All matter consists of tiny particles

Atoms are indestructible and unchangeable
Elements are characterized by the weight of their atoms
In chemical reactions, atoms combine in small, whole-
number ratios
When elements react, their atoms may combine in more than one
Whole-number ratio
Although Democritus first suggested the idea of the atom in the fourth
century BC, his suppositions were not useful in explaining chemical
phenomena, because there was no experimental evidence to support
them it was not until the late 1700s that early chemists began to
explain chemical behavior in terms of the atom.
