EXPERIENCE & PROJECTS

Georgia Institute of Technology, Graduate Research Assistant January 2015-Present
Advisor- Dr. M.T. Odman/ Dr. A.G. Russell
Applied a data mining algorithm and built a decision tree model to forecast the air quality impacts of the third-largest
anthropogenic source of air pollution prescribed burning. Achieved forecast accuracy as high as 99%.
Analysed large amounts of spatial and temporal data on a daily basis using Python, MS Excel and ArcGIS.
Created maps, charts and graphs to assist the stakeholder (Georgia Forestry Commission and Georgia Dept. of Natural
Resources) make better decisions about burn permits and air quality management.
Scraped data from several websites, worked with web APIs (MapQuest and Google maps) and developed independent
databases.
Automated the process of forecast publication to the Georgia Tech website (https://forecast.ce.gatech.edu/).
Georgia Institute of Technology, GIS class project May 2015 - July 2015
Presented prescribed burning forecast model data vs. actual data on maps using ArcGIS.
Created a story map of the project and published the same as an online resource repository (http://arcg.is/1HSQILW).
Georgia Institute of Technology, Environmental Modelling class project. January 2015 - May2015
Analysed fluid flow across a single pleat of a HEPA filter.
Optimized the pleat distance to facilitate minimum pressure drop and an optimal power requirement.
Vishwakarma Inst. of Technology, Pune, India, Undergraduate Thesis Project January 2013-May 2014
Advisor Dr. Tanushree Bhattacharjee
Designed a lab scale ZnO nanocatalyst slurry-reactor and a circulatory Electro-Fenton process setup.
Performed qualitative and quantitative analysis of degradation and color removal from a modelled industrial waste water
using standard methods such as Chemical Oxygen Demand and UV-Vis Spectroscopy.
Optimized process parameters such as pH and current density while simultaneously calculating and optimizing costs
associated with the lab-scale process.
Reduced COD of the solution by 90% and color by 80-90%.
IIT Bombay- Mumbai, India, Summer Research Intern May 2013-June 2013
Advisor Dr. Prakash Ghosh
Performed biomass gasification reactions modelling, process simulation, sensitivity analysis and process optimization using
the Aspen Plus process simulation software suite for different biomass feed.
