Powering down a DC-powered CX4 series
system
1. Stop all I/O activity to the storage system.
Stopping the I/O will allow the storage processor to
destage the cache data more quickly, and will permit a
graceful shutdown of the servers attached to the array.
2. If the server connected to the storage system is
running a UNIX operating system, unmount the file
systems.
3. Destage write cache from the Navisphere Secure
Command Line Interface. Perform this step on either
SP A or SP B:
a. Issue the following Navisphere command to disable
the write cache and to complete the destage of cache
data:
naviseccli h <sp_name> setcache wc 0
b. Issue the following Navisphere command to
determine when the destage is complete (on a large
configuration; this can take several minutes):
naviseccli -h <sp_name> getcache
c. Examine the Cache state and unassigned cache
pages fields in the Navisphere display. Do not
continue unless cache is DISABLED on both SPs and
the number of unassigned cache pages is 0.

4. On the storage processor enclosure, push the power
button on each power supply and hold the button in
for two seconds. Blinking power supply LEDs indicate
that the shutdown sequence is in progress. Allow two
minutes for the array to power down completely.
5. You can retain power to other devices in a rack/
cabinet, or shut down power distribution units A and
B. To shut down an individual DAE, toggle its power
switches to the off position.
