INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM (with partner observation)

DOERS TASK:

1. Choose a distance to serve from (either X1 or X2), and a target area (either the
marked area or the full service area).
2. Circle the number of times you expect to hit your target choice, (out of ______ attempts).
3. Take ________ serves from the right side, and blacken out the number of your
actual performance.
4. Change roles, and after your group has taken ________ serves from the right, repeat the
above from the left side.

OBSERVERS ROLE:

1. Check to see if the doer followed the performance criteria.


2. Let them know what is being done well. If there is any thing you can suggest to improve the
serving action tell him/her.
3. Switch roles after __________serves.

THE SERVE:
Performance Criteria: Did your partner do the following:

1. Stand in a slight crouch with the feet shoulder width apart and at a 45 angle to the
baseline. The toes of each foot are in line with the target.
2. Hold the ball in the palm of the hand and at waist level.
3. Use a forehand grip. Take a short backswing as the tossing action is started. Toss the ball
up about 15-20cm.
4. Contact the ball, about waist level as the weight shifts from rear foot to front foot
5 Follow-through towards the target
