Student Response Technology Used:

NearPod Socrative PollEverywhere iRespond TodaysMeet Other: Kahoot!
Technology that students will use to respond to questions/prompts:
Computer Hand-held student response system (such as iRespond) Phone
Tablet (such as iPad Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch) (Students can really use any
mobile device or a computer as long as they have the Game PIN)
Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: Prior to Kahoot, I will do a review with students of the Political Behavior Unit
we have been working through. The students will have a test the next day. We will go over students study
guides that they have completed in order to clarify points of confusion. After this, we will play the kahoot
as a fun review game as well as to assess places students are still unclear. I will have the opportunity to fill
in knowledge gaps after each question.
Describe the purpose of the SRS activity (check all that apply):
Assess Prior Knowledge Anticipatory Set (Create Interest in a Topic) To Illuminate Common
Misconceptions Formative Assessment of Content Knowledge (for purposes of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative Assessment of Content Knowledge Test Preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion Starter Homework Collection Other
Additional explanation of purpose (optional):

Type of session: Teacher-Paced Student-Paced

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the session
SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity (For example: What will students do? What
will the teacher do? What materials are needed? How long will the SRS activity take? The overview should
be a minimum of 2 paragraphs.):
Prior to our SRS activity, students will work on their study guide for this unit. This will take about 30
minutes. I will walk around and monitor student progress during this time. I will then set aside about 15

minutes to go over concepts in the study guide. This will be student-paced as they will have to ask me
questions for me to go over it. This will show students taking ownership of their learning.
The class will then transition into the SRS. Our SRS will be a Kahoot review game. Students have really
enjoyed the competitive game format of Kahoot in the past. This activity will take about 15-20 minutes.
Students will need their BYLD (mobile device) or they may use one of our class technology pieces (i.e.
Chrome Books). Students will only be identified by a username they create and must have the game PIN to
join. I will be the facilitator and keep the game moving. I will also be able to instantly see the answer
distribution. This format allows me to remediate after each question if necessary. I can also take the time to
reteach concepts that were commonly missed after the completion of the Kahoot. This format also allows
students to see areas they will need to focus on when studying.

Types of questions/prompts (Check all that apply):
Multiple choice Multiple Select True/False Yes/No Short open-ended response
or fill in the blank Longer open-ended response
Provide samples of questions/prompts to be given to students: 1. The MAIN goal of a political party is:
2. A cannot voter would be
3. In a blanket primary
Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? This will show students if they know the answer or not. Since this is a test prep activity,
it is important for students to see what they know. This will show students points of confusion that they
should ask for clarification on or concepts that they may need to spend more time studying. I want students
to be able to be informed studiers so that their study time will be used more efficiently.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
(For example: Will information collected from this activity be used to award a grade? Will the individual
information collected be shared with students and/or parents to help them monitor individual progress?
Will you discuss the aggregate, anonymous data with the whole class to help them learn? Will you use data
to differentiate instruction for students, if so describe how.) The data for this activity will allow me to
assess student readiness for their test. I will also be able to see if there are concepts I need to reteach prior
to the test. Students will also be able to self-assess and see areas that they will need to spend the most time
studying.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: I will reteach any concepts that are commonly
confused based on the SRS data. Students will also have time to ask questions.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have
not tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?
You must design something that will help you learn something new. Honor system!) : My personal goal
with this activity is to measure student learning. I want to gauge their readiness for the summative
assessment that is the next day. I also want students to be able to self-assess their readiness and see what
areas they may need to concentrate on when studying.
