Laser Classification
This device is classified as a high power Class IV laser instrument under
IEC 60825-1:2007 and 21 CFR 1040.10. This laser module is designed for
OEM applications and integration into other equipment. It does not
comply to all requirements of the laser product in terms of IEC 60825 and
21 CFR 1040.10. The manufacturer of the laser system is responsible for
the safety compliance according to the applicable standards and regulations.
WARNING:
This product emits light in range 10001200nm and total power of light
radiated out of the optical output up to 40 W. This level of light may cause
damage to the eye and skin. Despite the radiation being invisible, the
beam may cause irreversible damage to the retina. Laser safety eyewear
is not provided with this instrument, but must be worn at all times while
the laser is operational.
WARNING:
The red guide laser may be installed in the module. Its may emit up to
5mW average power near 660nm wavelength and is classified as class 3R
visible laser radiation in terms of IEC 60825-1:2007. Avoid direct eye
exposure.
WARNING:
Use appropriate laser safety eyewear when operating this device. The
selection of appropriate laser safety eyewear requires the end user to
accurately identify the range of wavelengths emitted from this product. If the
device is a tunable laser or emits light over a range of wavelengths and the
end user should confirm the laser safety eyewear used protects against light
emitted by the device over its entire range of wavelengths.
WARNING:
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those
set forth in this Users Guide and related documents may result in hazardous
radiation exposure.
CAUTION:
Do not install output head when the laser is active.

CAUTION:
Before supplying the power to the instrument, make sure that the correct
voltage of the DC power source is used. Failure to use the correct voltage
could cause damage to the instrument.
WARNING:
Make sure this instrument is properly grounded. Any interruption of the
protective grounding conductor from the protective earth terminal can
result in personal injury.
WARNING:
No operator serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified IPG
personnel. To prevent electrical shock, do not remove covers. Any
tampering with the product will void the warranty.
WARNING:
This device has an output optical head connected to the laser by a fiber
cable. Please, be careful dealing with the output head.
WARNING:
If this instrument is used in a manner not specified in this document, the
protection provided by the instrument may be impaired. This product
must be used only in normal conditions.
CAUTION:
The laser is sensitive to the power reflected back to the laser. Please do
not expose laser output to the high reflecting surfaces.
CAUTION:
Back reflection into the laser cavity can degrade the laser performance or
cause laser failure. The laser is designed to accommodate normal back
reflections exhibited from use of your laser output, whether it is outfitted
with a collimator or an isolator.
For collimated outputs, maintaining a clean output lens is essential.
Always close (re-cap) the collimator after use. Do not touch the output
lens and do not clean it with any solvents.
Optical damage may result from failure to comply with the above
instructions. Such damage is not covered by the warranty.
CAUTION:
Do not mark on high reflective materials. You can damage the laser. Such
damage is not covered by the warranty.
2 Description
YLPM
YLPM Series is an established family of maintenance-free MOPFA pulsed Ytterbium
fiber lasers designed for OEM applications. These lasers deliver a high power 1.06m
laser beam directly to the work piece via a flexible metal-sheathed fiber cable.
Collimated, and then typically focused to a spot size of a few microns, the near
diffraction-limited beam can mark, drill or machine a variety of materials.
YLPM
YLPM Series allows power scalability up to 30W in a small air-cooled package. It
provides a set of pulse durations, repetition rates and peak powers. The fiber based
design and rugged metal case allow these compact laser modules to operate under
industrial shock, vibration, dust and humidity in the temperature range from 0 to 40C.
Pulse Energy and Optical Beam: The lasers are supplied in two pulse energy grades:
0.5mJ and 1mJ. The average power can be scaled independently of the energy. Typical
beam quality M2 is less that 1.5. Output isolator ensures high output power stability
and allows to process reflective materials.
Interface: The laser is equipped with a fast digital control interface allowing direct
connection to the scanner control cards The laser does not require any external drivers
or additional intermediate boards for integration into a system.
Repetition Rate: The laser may be equipped with different types of master oscillators
allowing operation in wide pulse repetition ranges. The laser emits pulses
synchronously with pulse repetition frequency supplied by the control system to its
input.
Factory sealed YLPM lasers can be embedded directly into micro-machining, material
processing and production marking systems with no need for after-installation service.
These lasers require no water-cooling or replacement parts. They can be powered
directly from a 24V power supply.

5 EMC compliance
The YLPM series lasers are components and should be integrated into finished
system. The EMC (CE mark relevant) standards are not applicable to the laser
modules, however applicable to the complete systems. The system integrator is
responsible to comply with all applicable standards to the final laser system.
6 Mounting
The laser should be mounted to a base plate using 4 holes/threads in the housing
(refer to the drawing).
The output head should be clipped to the mounting surface (refer to the drawing).
Minimum delivery fiber cable bending radius is 80mm, during installation short term
bending with radius down to 50mm is allowed.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:
This device has an output optical head connected to the device by a fiber
cable. So please, be careful dealing with the output head.
CAUTION:
Always switch the laser off when working with the collimator such as
mounting the collimator into a fixture, viewing the end face with optical
instruments, etc.
CAUTION:
For collimated outputs, maintaining a clean output lens is essential.
Always close (re-cap) the collimator after use. Do not touch the output
lens and do not clean it with any solvents. Cleaning with lens tissue is
allowable as required.
CAUTION:
Do not expose the device to a high moisture environment.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:
Laser Module has three fans at the rear panel for active cooling. Make
sure that there is sufficient airflow to cool the device.
CAUTION:
Before switching on the device make sure that environmental
temperature and humidity are within specified range.
CAUTION:
Do not mark copper plates or other highly reflective materials. You may
damage the laser.
CAUTION:
Optical damage may result from failure to comply with the above
instructions. Such damage is not covered by the warranty.
