APRIL CLASSES
POTTERY CLASSES
Pottery classes begin April 3 and 4th.
Renee Matthews and Rhonda Withers will
teach hand building and wheel throwing
respectively. Classes meet twice a week
for ten weeks and are offered daytime and
evening. Cost is $160 for SASi members
and $170 for non-members. Included is
instruction, one bag of clay, use of studio
tools and firing of class projects.

COLOR PENCIL 101

Bring your own lunch
This class will teach you how to develop
your own skills using color pencils beyond
adult coloring books. Become a real artist
using the vibrant and juicy pigments of
color pencils; learn how to blend; how to
make other colors from a limited palette
of colors and how to make drama within a
simple composition.
Join the group of interested artists who
are developing their skill using a medium
of color pencils that is gaining popularity
around the globe as a go-to medium for
rich, luxurious paintings.
This class will show you how to paint this
simple stack of ceramic coffee cups and
saucers with color pencils. You will learn
how to apply blend colors, develop
reflections, shadows, and colors within
colors.
WATERCOLOR 101

squirrel sitting on a branch. You will
learn how to apply watercolor pencils
effortlessly, developing various colors

NOTE TO STUDENTS
SASI has table top easels for students to
use during classes. We also have limited
supplies to borrow: brushes, paints, and
other tools in case you are missing an
item. Donations are welcome. We may
also have w/c paper or canvas to
purchase. Please ask.
Please Arrive Early to set up for your
class so that the instructor may start
on time. Doors open hour prior to
class for you to set up. Be aware of
time for lunch breaks. Always be
respectful of other students and limit
interruptions during class.

MAY CLASSES
PAINTING SILK SCARVES
Saturday May 6
Time: 9:30 am to 4 pm
Instructor: Dianne W. Garner

Supplies Included: silk scarf, dyes to
paint during class and fixative to take
home to set the dye.

Ages: 14 and up
Skill Level: Beginning
Bring your own lunch
Students will choose from a 21x21 inch
square or a 15x60 inch rectangle silk
scarf. Dianne will have several designs
for you to choose from or you may
bring your own design to paint.
Instruction will be provided from
drawing the design outline to painting
your scarf. Then you will take it home
to wait 24 hours before you soak it in
fixative and let it dry.
Students should bring a couple of
soft watercolor brushes in different
sizes, one or two silver metallic sharpie
pens (no substitutes will do), and foam
core or plain cardboard, one inch larger
than your scarf (22x22 or 16x30 will do
and you can do half at a time).

a variety of free monthly programs along
with paid classes and workshops for all
skill levels. For more information please

will find the class description and a list of
supplies required for the student to bring.
If any materials are provided by the
teacher, that will be listed as well.
SASi meets the first Tuesday each
month for a free informative art
demonstration or mini-workshop. Visitors
are welcome.
For classes you must register and
pay in advance to reserve your
seat in the class. SASI accepts cash,
check and credit cards. Class size and
seating are limited. Classes that do not
register the minimum number of students
may be canceled. If the class is canceled
by the instructor all payments will be
refunded.
Students should wear appropriate
clothing for art classes, or bring
an apron or smock to wear. Some
paints and materials stain and cannot be
removed from clothing. Please bring your
own snacks or lunch, unless noted
otherwise. Soft drinks and water are
available at SASI.
