Lab 3-11: Views and Video Walls

Activity Objective

In this lab, will explore explore the options available for changing the views within the VSOM application. With this
customization, you can create multiple camera views within one pre-defined screen for quick viewing of active
cameras of importance. Combining multiple views of this type allows you to quickly access multiple cameras
throughout your infrastructure in an organized fashion

Task 1: Views
Activity Procedure

Complete these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer and connect to the VSOM at https://192.168.1.X/VSOM.

2. If you see a security warning, accept the warning and continue to the login page.

3. Click System Settings > Shared Resources > Views.


4. Click Add.
5. We will keep the default 2x2 layout for this view. Enter the name as Bldg 28 Default View and set the
Access Location to be HQ > Mn2 > Building 28. Click OK to continue.
6. Click the Add Camera icon for the upper left camera as shown in Figure 1 below.

7. In the Camera Selector dialog box, choose Location as HQ > Mn2 > Building 28 > Bldg 28 1st
Floor and then click and drag the Bldg 28 Entrance camera in the Camera section into the top left
view.

8. Click and drag the Bldg 28 Test Area 1 camera in the Camera section into the top right view.
9. In the Camera Selector dialog box, choose Location as HQ > Mn2 > Building 28 > Bldg 28 2nd
Floor and then click and drag the Bldg 28 Outdoor camera in the Camera section into the bottom
left view.

10. Click the Lock icon at the top left of the bottom right view to create a rotational view as shown in Figure 2
below.

11. Click the Add Camera button.

12. Drag and drop the following cameras in order into the Current Rotation Order box on the right:
Bldg 28 Office Area Camera 1, Bldg 28 Demo Camera 1, See Figure 3 below for more details.

13. Change the Rotate box to 15 Seconds and click Save.
14. You should now see the Bldg 28 Default View listed under the View section on the landing page for HQ
> Mn2 > Building 28.
15. We will now add a default view for Building 32.
16. Click Add.
17. Enter the name as Bldg 32 Default View and set the Access Location to be HQ > Mn2 > Building 32.
Click
OK to continue.
18. Change the default view from a 2x2 view to a 2x1 view by clicking the 2x1 icon as shown in Figure 4
below.

19. Click the Lock icon at the top of both views to create a rotational view in each window.

20. In the Camera Selector area, navigate to HQ > Mn2 > Building 32 > Bldg 32 1st Floor.
21. Click and drag the Bldg 32 Outdoor, HealthPresence, Hallway, and Entrance cameras in the
Camera section into the top view Current Rotation Order window.

22. Change the Rotate box to 15 Seconds and click Save.


23. You should now see the Bldg 32 Default View listed under the View section on the landing page for HQ
> Mn2 > Building 32 as shown in Figure 5 below.

24. We will add one final view, Cisco Building 30 Default View.
25. Click Add.
26. Enter the name as Bldg 30 Default View and set the Access Location to be HQ > Mn1 > Building 30.
Click OK to continue.
27. Click the Add Camera icon for the upper left camera

28. In the Camera Selector dialog box, choose Location as HQ > Mn2 > Building 30 > Bldg 30 1st Floor
and then click and drag the Bldg 30 Entrance camera in the Camera section into the top left view

29. Click and drag the Bldg 30 Outdoor Analog camera in the Camera section into the top right view.

30. In the Camera Selector dialog box, click and drag the Bldg 30 Indoor Analog camera into the Current
Rotation Order box and then click Location as HQ > Mn1 > Building 30 > Bldg 30 2nd Floor and
click and drag the Bldg 30 Indoor IP Camera 1 and Bldg 30 Indoor IP Camera 2 into the Current
Rotation Order box.
31. Change the Rotate box to 20 seconds and then click Save. See Figure 6 below for more details.

32. You should now see the Bldg 30 Default View listed under the View section on the landing page for HQ
> Mn2 > Building 30.
Task 2: Video Walls
1. Click System Settings > Shared Resources > Video Wall.
2. Click Add and enter the following information:

a. Name: Bldg 28 Video Wall


b. Access Location: HQ > West Region > Cisco Building 28
c. Default View: Click the pencil icon, uncheck No Default View, and click Bldg 28
Default View then click OK.
d. Change the Rollback Time to 20 Seconds.
e. Click Add to continue.

3. The Video Wall dialog box should match Figure 7 below.

HQ.Mn2

4. Repeat Steps 35 and 36 to create video walls for Building 32 and Building 30.See Figures 7 and 8
below for configuration information.
