Kashiwar-II

Sri Sri Kashiswar-Banalingama of the Dutta Chaudhury family had been established in 1609
CE by Kashiswar Dutta Chowdhury, the 18th person of my ancestral lineage. This
Shivalingam resides in a temple located adjacent to the family's age-old Durga dalan at
Chaudhury para in Andul, along with the other three Sivalingams - Bishweswar, Nakuleshwar
Bhairava and Maha-Kal (Saurendranath Mohaneshwara). The details were discussed in my
other write-up.

However, there is another Kashiswar lingam [picture below] installed sometime in the 1980s
by Emili Dutta Chaudhuri (1918-2013), wife of Bonobihari (Rajanikanta/Chandrakanta) the
25th person of my paternity. She was born in the Roy Chaudhuri zamindar family of Vasuki
clan of Bonogram village in Khulna, Bangladesh. Zamindar Jyotindra Mohan Roy Chaudhuri
and Binapani Debi were her parents; she being the eldest of their two daughters and son.
She was a pious lady, and had been initiated into the sacred Siva-naam mantra by her
Himalayan guru (spiritual teacher). She had acquired the deity from the holy city of Kashi,
India; and firmly held Him against her chest with great reverence and devotion as she
undertook the long journey from Kashi to her home in Andul. Regular care and prayers to the
deity continue at her Andul residence, though a home invasion by local bandits in 2016
resulted in the loss of some artifacts like the copper plate on which the deity was based, the
deity's silver snake, and some other heavy-metal items of worship
