Project Title STOP ALCOHOL PRESERVE WORKFORCE

2.1 Project summary
Stop Alcohol preserve workforce is a project which aims at creating awareness among youth on
how alcoholism can affect their workforce and their level of performance in general.

The targeted group are youth found in Igogo ward, this is because Igogo is surrounded by a lot of
industries such as Vick fish, Pepsi as well as garages which enable youth to get work as causal
workers and they are paid per day or weekly due to this, most of youth they spent the little they
earn to alcohol.

Igogo ward has a population of 27303 people (census, 2011) whereby there are 13,374 male and
13,929 female. The ward is surrounded with a lot of local bars and grocery all this contribute
towards alcohol addiction among youth found in Igogo.

The main objectives of this project are to reduce the number of youth addicted by alcohol at Igogo
ward, to provide psychological counseling to youth addicted by alcohol and to provide education to
non-users of alcohol on the effects of alcoholism.

The methods which will be used to educate youth include discussion and interview. At the end of
the project a total of 25,000 youth will be educated on the effect of alcoholism.

2.2 Activities implemented during the project

1. Providing education to non user of alcohol


With this, different youth will be grouped in groups of 10 youth where by youth themselves with
the guiding of health expert will discuss on the effect of alcohol to individual and society in general
at the end health expert will give a general comment.

2. Resource mobilization
This involves fund raising from individual and corporate sectors. Poor living standard being one of
the challenge facing Youth at Igogo which contribute to alcoholism, therefore fund rising will be
done whereby the money will be given to groups of youth who will have a business idea to ensure
that they improve their life.

3. To provide psychological counseling to youth addicted by alcohol

Youth who are affected with alcohol will be given psychological counseling with health expert


2.3 Project end- beneficiaries

The project target to provide education to 25,000 youth on the effect of alcoholism and succeeded
to educate 23,756 youth

2.4 Specific objective(s) of the project

1. To reduce the number of youth addicted to alcohol at Igogo ward

2. To provide psychological counseling to youth addicted to alcohol

3. To provide education to non users of alcohol on the effects of alcoholism

2.5 Expected result of the project

The project expectation is to end or reduce alcoholism tendency to youth found in Igogo

2.6 Evidence based prevention methods

The intervention consists of one to one counselling sessions can include follow up sessions or
additional information to take home. The sessions are structured and last typically from 5 to 15
minutes. Intervention is typically delivered in the primary health care system or in emergency
rooms. Interventions delivered in settings other than the family and the school, such as the
workplace, the health sector, entertainment venues and the community, become more relevant.

2.7 Youth involvement

This project support active youth participation and connect the participating youth to other youth
groups via WhatsApp groups and Facebook groups whereby those social media groups youth
from different sectors where added as members of the group. Through these social media groups
different topics about alcoholism where presented and discussed by all members of the group.
Therefore, these gave a chance to different youth groups to participate and gave out their ideas.

Project Description
