Explanation of the final unit project for Rock and Mineral section.

Groups of 3-4 students will choose a type of mineral resource that can
be found in Saskatchewan and create a project that examines the
depositional environment of this type of deposit.
This project must include:
Location of deposit, and pictures of the deposit and rock
types
Information on the depositional environment
Common rocks and minerals that are associated with the
deposit.
What the ore is used for
What companies are extracting the resource and the social
and political implications of this deposit (such as who do
we sell it to?, who were the mineral rights purchased from?
Is it located on reserve land? Do the local First Nations
people make money or work on the project?)
At least 5 diagrams, maps or other pictures.

Students will present their work to the class in any way that they
choose (such as power point, prezi, google notes, video, audio, live
presentation or another way??) and each person in the group should be
ready to answer questions from the teacher and other students in the
class.
