seasidehadtobesoldimmediately,andthelittleboy,carryingnothingbutasmallsuitcasecontaininga
pairofpajamasandatoothbrush,wassentawaytolivewithhistwoaunts.
TheirnameswereAuntSpongeandAuntSpiker,andIamsorrytosaythattheywerebothreallyhorrible
people.Theywereselfishandlazyandcruel,andrightfromthebeginningtheystartedbeatingpoor
Jamesforalmostnoreasonatall.Theynevercalledhimbyhisrealname,butalwaysreferredtohimas
youdisgustinglittlebeastoryoufilthynuisanceoryoumiserablecreature,andtheycertainly
nevergavehimanytoystoplaywithoranypicturebookstolookat.Hisroomwasasbareasaprison
cell.
