Technology is at the heart of everything we do at Sky. It drives the game-changing

innovations that were renowned for developing new products and services that give
every one of our customers the experience they want and strengthens our position in a
highly competitive marketplace.We design, develop and look after the systems and
products that support our customer base, develop apps for smartphones and tablets and
deliver corporate systems to support our thousands of employees.

Reduce Costs to Improve Competitiveness

Cost reduction is an important product development goal. Lower costs give you the
flexibility to lower your prices and win new business or maintain prices and increase your
profit margin. Product development teams can reduce costs by using lower-cost
materials, eliminating features that the market does not need or redesigning the product
to simplify the manufacturing process. Technology play an important role in
manufacturing sector to achieve this cost reduction era.

Identify the Risks before and after product development

A product development strategy can fail to deliver its benefits at different stages in the
process. When the team is generating ideas, it may not carry out sufficient research into
market requirements, leading to developments that do not meet customer needs. During
the technical assessment stages, the team must ensure that the company can turn the
idea into a finished product with available technology and manufacturing resources. With
the help of technology, engineer are able to identify and forecast the risk of developing a
product at the earlier stage, because mass produce a wrong product, might end up with
recalling back , or lost in profit, or even harm human life.

Maintain value and sustainable product

Create product with latest technology to minimize the aging of the product. Some design
and function of machinery might be replaced by something new or more advance, it is
good to use technology to produce a sophisticated product, that can last as long as
possible, make it sustainable in the market.

Technology portfolio

The importance of R&D portfolio and its requirements are discussed in many studies. By
having a technology portfolio approach, companies can keep track of all the technologies
that are developed within their organization. The technology projects could be grouped
under different portfolios and all necessary information about them could be available.
Having a portfolio is efficient both for technology developers and technology customers.

Improves decision making

The world is full of products and services that promise to make peoples lives easier,
more enjoyable, more efficient, or healthier. Thus technology always act as a guidelines
for engineers to understand what final product they are going to create, in terms of
knowledge of the designer, ways of thinking and acting, capabilities of the products. With
sufficient knowledge from the technology, human can improve something to better
because they understand the needs, and the best way to produce. For example Malaysia
which produce local company automobile Proton. Proton knows everyone needs car,
instead of importing car from Germany, proton use the technology of Germany, and
produce proton by themselves. This required very fundamental and R&D of technology.
