5.0 PROJECT PREPARATION

5.0.1 Creating a DXF File

TechCON program works with *.dxf files, thus in order to place a file into a project, it needs to be exported into this
format as follows:
1. Open the project file in AutoCAD (or other graphical program that you use) and in the File menu, select the option
Save as ... (Save as ...). A window appears in which you specify the file path and its name, and in the lower drop-
down menu Save as Type you select the *.dxf file type version 14 or higher (Fig. 5.0-1).

Fig. 5.0-1

2. After pressing Save, the file will be created in *.dxf format, which you can load into the program as a background
as per Chapter 5.0.3

In case of any problem loading the project into TechCON, it is necessary to first explode the line with the command
EXPLODE in AutoCAD, then with the command PURGE, and finally export it into *.dxf file.

5.0.2 Creating Floors

1. Start by clicking the icon Floors

2. Click the button Add Floor to create a new floor. Overwrite the name
to -1.PP and change the height dimension z=-3.

(Fig. 5.2-2).

Fig. 5.2-1 Fig. 5.2-2

If you check the box Not to Size Pipe, the program will during its calculation keep the pipe dimensions that
you select during the drawing, otherwise the program will not size the pipe.
Even if the program sizes the pipe, it is more favorable to select a suitable dimension during drawing
due to the overall layout (e.g. to connect sinks, it is enough to set DN 40, to connect toilets or drawing waste
and leakage pipes, it is recommended to select DN 100).

5.2.2 Drawing Vertical Waste Pipes

Click Create Vertical Waste Pipe .

Move the cursor to the place where you want to create a waste pipe and press the left mouse button. A dialog box
pops up in which enter the height of the lower (-250) and upper (6000) point of the waste pipe (Fig. 5.2-3).

Fig. 5.2-4

5.2.3. Sanitary Wares Connection Principles

1. Even if the program sizes the pipe, it is more favorable to select a suitable dimension during drawing due to the
overall layout (e.g. to connect sinks, it is enough to set DN 40, to connect toilets or drawing waste and leakage pipes,
it is recommended to select DN 100). Since x.2 version, the program sets up DN pipes automatically according to
DN trap.
2. When you are connecting multiple sanitary wares to a common connecting pipe, always begin with the furthest
pipe from the vertical waste pipe and then continue to connect remaining sanitary wares. From x.2 version you can
use the function for automatic connection of sanitary wares.
3. When connecting sanitary wares to a common connecting pipe, a dialog box pops up where you can select the
method of connection. (Fig.5.2-5)
If you want to connect a sanitary ware to a connecting pipe while maintaining a gradient, select the response Yes
(Fig. 5.2-6). If you want to connect a sanitary ware to a connecting pipe without maintaining a gradient, select the
response No (Fig. 5.2-7).

5.6.5 Simplified Selection of Valves and Parameters when Drawing Soil Pipes

You can find several changes in the panel for setting parameters for drawing of
soil pipes:

- the option to set pipe parameters (manufacturer, type, dimension,

segment length) has been added,

- valve selection has been streamlined to the selection of type and angle
of valve, and the program will set the valve dimension according to the
dimension of the pipe,

- the option to draw pipes by using a free placement of pipe bends (see
Chapter 5.6.6 Streamlined Drawing of Soil Pipes) has been added,

- option to simplify the drawing by not inserting real valves into pipes
(see Chapter 5.6.6 Streamlined Drawing of Soil Pipes) has been added,

- setting up drawing of pipes in gradient or at height z now works

through the button in the lower pane. In the dialog box you can select the
method and next to the button you set up the value of gradient in percentage or
height z in mm (Fig. 5.6-11).

Fig. 5.6-10 Fig. 5.6-11

5.6.6 Streamlined Drawing of Soil Pipes

Two options that streamline the joining of bend pipes has been added when drawing soil pipes:

1. Free placement of bends

Analogous to the free placement when drawing elbows, it is possible to join pipes at any angle even in a
bend. In the panel for setting up parameters for drawing of soil pipes, select the bend 0 Free Bends
Placement. In the overview of used material, the bend will be specified automatically with angle that is
closest to the one that has been drawn up.

41
Fig. 5.6-12

2. Drawing without inserting real valves

In order to simplify the drawing, you have to option to set boundary dimension in the setting - SAN
tab - depending on which real valves will be inserted during the drawing (with actual dimensions). Smaller
dimensions of pipes will be joined in the project by a simplified method, without inserting valves. In
addition, if you select the option of free placement for elbows and bends, pipes will be joined at any angle,
which streamlines the drawing of soil pipes.
