Marketing Manager who organise events and contacts for Launchpad

Jonjo Warwick:
volunteer organiser

Jason McMahon:
Fundraising Co-coordinator

Our video will be focusing on the facial side of the charity. This means that
the video will contain a lot of information that will educate the audience on
the topic of homelessness. We will also be including case studies that will
hopefully create an emotional response from people.

A production layout (beginning, middle and end)

Opening: introduction with a voice over on top of a montage of footage
(found or filmed) regarding to our social action. This opening helps to give a
little background of the current local issue to raise awareness to the
audience.

Middle: interviews and getting into the organization Launchpad. This is getting
to introduce the charity itself and laying out their responsibilities and roles.
Introduce case studies, department, who is in charge, and background and
fact and statistics to support the evidence.
Pancake day: having footage from the pancake day to show the fundraising
for the organisation.

End: to sum up the issue, we would use over or back to interviews footage to
end the production. We will use fade and giving links for audience can visit
the charity.

Target Audience and why?

To find out the audience we should target our social action video at, we sent
out a survey that clarified our idea for the video. This questionnaire, asked the
audience who the video should be aimed at. These question asked about:
Gender
Age
Geodemographics
socioeconomic status

From our questionnaire results, we found that our target audience for this
production would be the people from the local area of Reading, mainly for
teenagers, young adults, and adults as they are at the most risk of becoming
homeless and have the funds to donate and help the charity. However, the
video can apply to any age category. We will be targeting both genders, as
this social issue can affect everyone, so informing as many people on the
issue is vital to preventing the issue from spreading.
Where your video will be uploaded / shown
The video will be shown on YouTube as well as on the Launchpads home
page.

1 - Intro Homelessness in Reading has increased by 700% over the

past 3 years. The issue of homelessness and poverty has
risen within the UK, with 14,930 households categorized as
being statutorily homeless and 74,630 households in
temporary accommodation. Across Britain, almost every
town has been recorded with homeless citizens with people
who come from different circumstances and situations and
has the possibility to affect anyone at anytime from issues
that can not be controlled. This has come to the attention to
the organisation Launchpad

Launchpad had been around in Reading ever since 1979

where it started as a soup kitchen and eventually grew into a
thriving charity.

Pancake day But none of their work could be done without the amazing
support of their and volunteers. Who participate in amazing
fundraising events that you can get involved in such as the
berkshire 10k run the big sleep out or the have fun at the
annual pancake race. You can make a difference my taking
part in any of these events or simply donating on their
website. Help decrease homelessness in reading, help
make a difference.
PANCAKE and other events

Rough Sleeping Launchpad works to prevent 3 key areas of homelessness:

rough sleeping, begging and hidden homelessness. Just as
homelessness is on the rise, as is rough sleeping. The
Autumn 2016 counts and estimates suggested there were
4,134 rough sleepers on any one night in England, over
double the number from Autumn 2010, when the figure was
1,768. Rough sleeping is extremely dangerous to people
due the living conditions available,
and can seriously affect health. The average life expectancy
of a rough sleeper is 47, meaning that early intervention is
crucial the longer people sleep rough, the harder they
become to help before their health suffers. Many things can
contribute to towards this drastic way of life, but not
everyone who sits on the street begging is a rough sleeper.
That is why it is import for people to understand, a rough
sleeper is:
People sleeping, about to bed down (sitting on/in or
standing next to their bedding) or actually bedded
down, in the open air (such as on the streets, in tents,
doorways, parks, bus shelters or encampments).
People in buildings or other places not designed for
habitation.
Thats why if you are concerned about a rough sleeper,
Launchpad encourages you to help by contacting street links
via their website online.

Hidden Homeless Rough sleepers are often seen throughout reading, but there
is another major area of homlessness than no one ever
sees. Hidden homeless can be anyone who is not seen as
homeless at a first glance, but need the same amount of
support and help. This can include sofa surfing. Sofa surfing
is a term used to describe the situation of a person jumping
from friend to friend staying a few nights on their sofas, this
doesn't seem that bad, however after a few weeks the
realisation that their living conditions are temporary and the
thought of eviction could be just around the corner.
Sofa surfing can also be an issue with employment, bosses
will find it hard to hire or keep someone on if they do not
know if their employees have a safe/ permanent place to call
home.
