Trusting God: Even When Life Hurts by Jerry Bridges
Since suffering is a reality in a cursed world, we should not
be surprised when trials come our way. The Bible teaches
that God is sovereign over suffering and that He is also near
as a comfort to those in the valleys of life. In Trusting God,
Bridges teaches us about the character of God as it relates
to suffering so that we might be able to trust Him, even when
life hurts.

Friendship Folders
Please pass the Friendship Folders, for prayer requests and praise
reports please also register your attendance. If there is no one
sitting at the end of an aisle, please make sure the worship guide
gets passed.
Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday
Good Friday service, April 14th, will be held at Prescott High
Schools Ruth Street Theater from 6 to 7 p.m. Childcare will be avail-
able for children 0-2 years. Resurrection Sunday service will take
place during normal Sunday service times 9-10:30 a.m.
Sunday, May 7th Service
On Sunday, May 7th there will be an evening worship service in
place of the normal morning service. Service time will be 5:30 p.m.
to 7 p.m.
Get to Know Canyon
For anyone who would like to know more about Canyon Bible
Church of Prescott, or considering church membership, we will be
having our next Get to Know Canyon Class on Sunday, April 30th at
Prescott High School after the worship service. Lunch is provided.

Student Ministries
Save the Date! High School Summer Camp, Camp Regen will be

Womens Bible Study
Study through the book of Jonah! Morning Ladies will continue to
meet 9:00-11:00am at American Warehouse, 226 N Montezuma

8:30pm at our new location, Alta Vista Retirement Community, 916
Canterbury Lane, Prescott AZ 86301.
James Gems
James Gems widows group will be meeting for a Lunch Bunch
outing on Tax Day, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. We will share a Mexican
food fiesta at Casa Bonita, 1317 E. Gurley, located near the curve of

 Monday
Take the time today to sit down with a piece of paper and
put some thoughts down as it relates to the following
questions. What are the ways in your life that you can tend
towards a shallow approach to the Bible? Consider read-
ing Psalm 119 and making notes about the role of Gods
Word in your life. What practical steps can you take this
week to begin patterns of regularly exposing yourself to
the whole of Scripture? What would prevent you? Who in
your life can you talk with about the challenges? Who can
you pray with about this? Who can you ask to hold you
accountable to be a Whole-Bible Christian?
Tuesday
Read Philippians 1:12-18. Even though the Philippians are
grieved, over Pauls imprisonment, he encourages them by
pointing out that his circumstances are furthering the procla-
mation of the gospel. His joy was meant to be an example to
the Philippians and is meant to be an example for us today.
The example to follow is that like Paul we are to also rejoice
even in difficult times. Pray that, regardless of the circum-
stances, you can rejoice in the Lord and look for ways to
advance the gospel.
Wednesday
In 1 Cor 15:1-4, Paul is concerned that the Corinthi-
anChristians would be doctrinally informed about the
resurrection. Other verses make the call to know doc-
trine clear:Titus 2:1,2 Tim 1:13,2 Tim 2:15,2 Tim 4:2-4,1
Jn 4:1.Take a few moments today to look up these vers-
es and consider them with this quote from J.C. Ryle,A
religion without doctrine is a thing which many are fond
of talking of in the present day. It sounds very fine at first.
It looks very pretty at a distance. But the moment we sit
down to examine and consider it, we shall find it a sim-
ple impossibility. We might as well talk of a body without
bones and sinews. No man will ever be anything or do
anything unless he believes something. J.C. Ryle, Holi-
ness, p. 69
Thursday
In2 Cor 5:14-15, Paul writes, For the love of Christcon-
trols us, because we have concluded this: thatone has
died for all, therefore all have died;15and he died for
all,that those who live might no longer live for themselves
butfor him who for their sake died and was raised. Med-
itate long and hard on these phrases. Why did Christ die?
These verses say it was sothat those who live might no
longer live for themselves. How would it change your
marriage if, rather than living for yourself, you were living
for Christ, because you were so convinced of his death
in your place? What effect should it have on you if you
truly believe in the death of Jesus in your place? If he did
that for you, will you continue to live the same? for your-
self?How would it change your parenting, if, rather than
expecting your kids to fulfill your desires, you sought to
serve them for the glory of the one who died for you? How
should your work ethic be changed by his death in your
place? As a Christian, there is a man who died for you, and
that changes everything. He did it so that you wouldno
longer live for yourself.
