Musical

Flashcard Sorting Game

A music game for 2-8 players
Assembly:
Print the alphabet signs onto colorful cardstock paper. Laminate if desired.
Setup:
Get out your piano-key-naming or staff-note-naming flashcards. Choose which
the cards youd like to use for this game/round, depending on the level of your
students, and how long you would like gameplay to last.
If you are using piano-key-naming flashcards, spread the Musical Alphabet signs
across the floor in a row. If you are using staff-note-naming flashcards, I
recommend spreading the Musical Alphabet signs across the floor in a column,
so that A is at the bottom and G is at the top. (This is so that it resembles the
staff, where the musical alphabet progresses vertically.)
Place the shuffled flashcards facedown within easy reach of all players (I suggest
placing the pile next to the D sign).
Gameplay:
In turn, each student (or team of students) draws the top flashcard from the

pile and sorts it in the correct category by placing it on the corresponding
letter sign.
If desired, the teacher may keep points for each student/team. Points may
only be awarded if the card is correctly sorted on the first try.
Gameplay ends when all the cards are correctly sorted. The winner is the
student/team with the most points.
