OBITUARY

~ ALFREDO DARRINGTON BOWMAN [A/K/A DR SEBI] (26 Nov 1933 6 Aug 2016).
Pathologist, herbalist, biochemist, engineer, entrepreneur and naturalist. Dr Sebi passed away
from complications brought on by pneumonia while on prison remand in Honduras on money
laundering charges. Dr Sebi was born in the village of llanga in Spanish Honduras. He never
attended school but learn much of the principles that would set him in good stead for the rest of
his life from his beloved grandmother, Mama Hay. Dr Sebis mother had to leave her son with his
grandmother as she worked in another town. His early days of play and observation by the river
and in the forest, coupled with guidance from his grandmother, gave Dr Sebi the foundation to be
obedient to the Truth in his later life.

Dr Sebi came to the United States as a self-educated man who had been diagnosed with asthma,
diabetes, impotency, and obesity. After unsuccessful treatments with conventional doctors, Dr
Sebi went to a herbalist in Mexico. Finding great healing success for all his ailments he began
creating natural vegetation cell food compounds geared for inter-cellular cleansing and the
revitalization of all the cells that make up the human body. Inspired by the personal healing
experience and knowledge he gained, he began sharing the compounds with others, which gave
birth to the USHA Research Institute, Dr Sebi LLC, and the Usha Healing Village located in
Laceiba, Honduras. We played Dr Sebis tapes and the audio stream from a video on our radio
shows from the mid-1990s and regularly referenced him as an Afrikan promoting natural and
traditional healing in our discussions and writings.

Dr Sebi claimed that rendering the body to an alkaline state makes it difficult for disease and
ailments to exist. Dr Sebi claimed to have a cure for AIDS and cancer along with a long list of
other related diseases. He won a court case in New York State Supreme Court to this effect
which made him the only health practitioner to have a government-certified document that proves
he was able to cure AIDS back in the late 1980s. This goes against the usual allopathic medical
practice of hounding anyone who says they can cure AIDS or cancer without the use of synthetic
pharmacological drugs or processes that have detrimental side effects.

Dr Sebis client list included many of the top Afrikan-American healers, celebrities and political
leaders. They would often come for private consultations as they did not want their followers to
know the man more powerful than them and able to cure their physical, spiritual and
psychological ailments for fear that they would lose their fame, prestige and adoration. Among
those who did acknowledge being helped by Dr Sebi was the soul singer Teddy Prendergrass
after the car accident that left him a paraplegic. Lisa Left Eye Lopes of TLC was in Honduras to
see Dr Sebi about her sickle cell and psychological issues when she was involved in her fatal car
crash. Michael Jackson had also used his services.

Dr Sebi was detained after a flight from California that landed at the Juan Manuel Galvez de
Roatan Airport on 28 May 2016 under charges of money laundering. Dr Sebi and his associate
Pablo Medina Gamboa were stopped carrying a total of $50,000 in cash - $20,000 on Dr Sebi
and $30,000 on Gamboa. [Editors Note: The money was likely to have been from product sales
and investors in the Usha Healing Village however in this time of anti-terror scares and online
banking many countries have legislation about how much actual cash you are allowed to carry
through customs.]

Dr Sebi and de Roatan were attempting to board a private plane headed to another location in
Honduras when they were arrested. They were detained and then released for a pending court
appearance. After his next court hearing on 3 Jun Dr Sebi was detained on money laundering
charges by the Public Ministerio. On an unconfirmed date and time between 3 Jun and 6 Aug Dr
Sebi reported severe health conditions related to pneumonia. He was taken to the Vicente
Dantoni Hospital in a critical health condition but passed away in transit. His brother Garden
Bowman had previously reported that Dr Sebi had experienced health complications from
pneumonia and was prescribed medication by the hospital. His exact conditions of death and any
evidence of foul play is still unknown and under investigation. He was received at the hospital by
Dr Edwin Interiano.

Dr Sebi is survived by 17 children. He was an inspiration to many and will be intensely missed by
people all over the world impacted by his holistic approach to wellness.
